I did a search and couldn't find anything specific to my problem. If this has already been discussed, I apologize.

My passenger side door rattles like crazy. It seems to be coming from the black (top) part of the inside door panel. At first I thought it was the passenger side seat belt lock hitting the side of the cab, but its not. I pressed the spot where I thought it was rattling from on the door panel and it stopped instantly until I let go. Its subtle, but its constantly there. It just started about a week ago. Its driving me friggin crazy.

I read some where on here I think that it has to do with the seatbelt mechanism in the door. Maybe someone can lead me in the right direction but I read the fix being to make some shims out of a plastic milk carton and wedge them into the seatbelt mechanism.

mine rattles too, some on the passenger, but it is really bad on my driver's side access cab door... it could be the seatbelt part... when i took off the panels to upgrade my speakers i thought i didn't snap something back right, but i know my seatbelt up/down adjuster didnt work right for a couple days but then seemed to fall in place.....

    still rattling tho, very annoying

I have the same problem on the driver's side. If I hold my hand on the seatbelt height adjuster button, the rattle goes away...dunno what the problem or solution is...

I thought i was the only one. Mine only rattles at certain bass frequencies. It's not the speaker, its definately the door, i think near the bottom. if the frequency is right the stereo volume only has to around 20 (stock stereo) and the door starts to rattle like crazy. i was gonna mention it next time i took my truck to the dealer. If you push or pull on the door handle (the one in the arm rest not the one that opens the door) the rattle goes away, so something in the door is just barely making contact. I'm glad other people are experiencing this. I haven't taken the door panels off or anything so i expect the dealer to do something. anyone have any experience bringing this up with their dealer?

I have the same problem!! Mine is on the driver's side, and sometimes the passenger side. One time I had my window down, and I went to put it back up and it wouldn't go up, so I grabbed where the window goes in and pulled it towards me and then window went up perfectly fine. I have not said anything to the dealership about it.

Ditto here except mine is in the passenger door or A-pillar. I only hear it when the stereo is off or very low. Of course, the day I had my brother ride around and see if he could tell where it was coming from it didn't make a sound. Now it's back in full force.

same here, i don't listen to music with a ton of bass, but sometimes certain bassy songs will rattle the hell out of that door pannel, if i push on it sometimes it will stop.... i have taken off the pannel to upgrade my speakers, i'm gonna take it to them and see what they say.

Well from what I found out is that in the passenger side door where the seatbelt mechanism retracts the belt, their is a very small ball in it some where, and that it rolls around. Now when you snap the belt into the buckle it puts some kindof tension on that ball and it does not roll around and make noise. Some guys don't like rollin around town with the belt pulled down over the seat so this is where the milk carton shims come into play. I guess they take apart the door and wedge one on each side of the retracting mechanism which in turn puts pressure on the ball. I guess it works,so they say?..But what happens when the belt is pulled out for a passenger?..Do the shims stay in place, or pop out?

    hey guys,

my truck is still at the dealer, dropped it off this morning and i'm suposed to get it back tomorrow. they said to stop the rattle they where putting insulation or something all around the door panel....

the lady said it was probably mostly due to the fact i had after market speakers..... maybe that is true, but i could hear a light rattle sometimes just driving down the road with no music, but bass would REALLY set it off, anyway, she said because of that it wasn't really covered under warenty but she'd do it for me free of charge anyway....

i'm think she wanted me to think she was doing me a favor but couldn't prove the noise was 100% due to the upgraded speakers......

anyway, i told ya'll i'd update ya so there it is.... should get my truck back tomorrow.

just picked up my truck and just got home, rattle is a LOT LESS but still a little there. i played some eminem to really make it rattle for the dealer..... on the way home i couldn't hear it rattle until i played some john prine (country/folk type music) anyway, that rattled a little, when i pulled up in the drive way it sounded like it was comming from the pass. door not the access cab door....

i'll mess with it some more tomorrow, but bottom line is the rattle is WAY BETTER, just a little rattle sometimes instead of tons of rattle all the time.
