What would you do?

When I moved into my house about 5 years ago there were about 12 feral cats. The only reason I didn't round them up was because there was a lady feeding them and she told me she had them all spayed/neutered. Over the years most of the original cats have died off from cars, owls, coyotes, etc. Occasionally a new cat would show up and she would just claim someone abandoned it there.
Jump ahead to 2 months ago and there is only one cat left. About 1 month goes by and 2 more cats are "abandoned" again. These 2 are not spayed and are yowling throughout the day. They also like to sit outside my neighbor's fence and just sit there as my neighbor's dogs bark at them all throughout the night.
A little about the crazy cat lady. She lives about 5 miles away. She says she doesn't have the cash to have these cats fixed.She feeds over 100 cats at over 10 "stops" every single night. She says she has about 14 cats at her house alone.
Well me and my neighbors have decided we're tired of the cats and want them gone. One of my neighbors talked to the crazy lady and she won't take them because she has too many as it is. He also doesn't want us to catch them and drop them off at a shelter because they just euthanize feral cats. He says we should catch them and release them somewhere else, but I don't believe in ditching your problems on someone else. So that's the scenario, what would you guys do?

 

shoot um and add um to the burn pile. Cats are evil

 

i guess it comes down to trying to give the cats away to family and friends,
or are you a cat guy? keep them for yourself. i have one, they are awesome.
or there's the last resort option and take them to the pound. it sucks that they euthanize but if you take the cats and release them again it will only cause more problems and more feral cats. catch and release doesn't work the same on domesticated animals as it does wild animals.

 

Our SPCA generally spays/neuters strays for free.

 

Catch in live trap, cover with plywood gas chamber and connect hose to exhaust. Problems solved one at a time.

Not humor. We have the same problem near our lake place...one neighbor feeds the strays so they stick around. We found a humane way to get rid of them. The county cop told us to sit on the front porch with a shotgun and the neighbor would get the message after seeing a few get smoked...we felt this was a little less intrusive on the peace.

 

It's your property. If you and the other property owners don't want them there, it's your right to remove them. I'd either call Animal Control or take them in myself.
