hi, i'm a noob looking to do a 2.5" - 3" lift on my '09 DC Taco TRD Sport 4x4. I've been looking at Toytec, Skyjacker, and recently a shop recommended SwayAway.

I searched the forum, but only one thread popped up with not much info, but does anyone here have any opinions or experience with the SwayAway lift kits?

    thanks,
    jason

I've had -2- sets of Sway-A-Way/Camburg coilovers, the 2.5s both times (2002 Tacoma/2006 Tacoma). They are really well built, they perform great on the street and awesome offroad as well.

one other noob question... if i run a 3" lift, will i need a diff drop kit, or am i ok without it?

wow, sweet truck. so you're running 2.5 inches up front? what about the rear? blocks? AALs?

the shop i'm working with is recommending i go with the coilovers at 2.5" up front, and blocks in the rear, but only if it's needed.

    thoughts?

When I initially installed the kit, I ran just the front coilovers, rear AAL and 1" block with Donahoe remote reservoir shocks. It ran fine, alignment was OK, not perfect.

Since then, I have added the Camburg Upper Control Arms, Diff Drop Kit, and Driveshaft spacer kit. Runs smooth, better than stock on/off-road, and alignment is perfect.

Actually, Sway-A-Way makes two coilovers (or used to), the 2.0 and 2.5s. The 2.5s ran a larger diameter shaft on the shock and a heavier duty spring. I am running at about 3" of lift front/rear. Rear is AAL, 1" aluminum block, Donahoe(IKON) remote reservoir shocks. Also installed f/r braided lines that were longer to accomodate the lift.

1" lift in rear, All pro coil overs in front.
I bought SAW 2.5's. After about 150 miles, I noticed a knock in the right front when going over bumps in the road. Turns out the seal went bad.

Even on $5K Ohlins suspension kits, seals go bad, shocks prematurely leak. The one thing not mentioned is the AWESOME customer service of Sway-A-Way. They rebuilt my coilovers for free and did it in 1 day due to an error by the supplier of the internal stops.

I'd purchase them again, no questions asked.

Actually, The 2.5's run the same size shock shaft, but have a larger shock body for more oil capacity. The springs can be ordered 650#, or 675#. :)
