OME lift questions....

Hi guys! I am considering going with OME this time around as I really dont need coilovers, I dont offroad much.

But was wondering which coils would be better... 884 or 885? I have a 2012 AC V6...
I want to get a full 3" if not a hair more. Also was wanting to know if the kit comes with new top hats and studs and everything I need to install it?

It would suck if I had to take my stock struts apart and use the top hat and hardware from my stock struts...

Use 884s and 1/4" top plate spacers. You'll have to take your OEM coils apart if you don't plan on buying new shocks, if you plan on buying new shocks the vendor you get them from, (toytec, rocky road, and I think wheelers), can assemble them for you for roughly $100.

 

K, but if i buy new shocks will it come with new top hats and hardware?

You'll have to contact the vendor you are buying from but usually not since you can reuse your old ones. As far as access cab & 884,885 I can't tell you. The way I know is 884s for 2.5" of lift, 885s for 2.5" of lift with weight in the front. You'll have to find someone running that setup on here & or if you are ordering from DSM give them a call & they will point you in the right direction.

 

Through Toytec the new top hats and rubber isolater and assembly for the front shocks is $100 extra. That's if you buy the full kit. You will want the top spacer to get the full 3". Give them a call and talk to them. They will tell you anything you want to know about the OME kit.

 

884's for 2" of lift, 885's for 2.5" of lift. If you want 3" of lift with a V6 Access Cab, get 885's and the top plate. 884's won't get you there.

Usually if you buy new shocks, they just come with shocks and they count on you reusing your old top hats. Some vendors offer a service where they provide new top hats and assemble the shocks but they usually charge for that service.

 

I got my 885x, nitrochargers, and trim pack from DSM. They don't offer them assembled. I thought rebuilding my coils was the easiest part of my lift. I also only got 2.25" lift but have a DC 4X4 auto and 200 pounds of sound deadening and audio equipment in the cab. You need a small top spacer.

 

You'll get close to , if not right on 3" with 885's , no spacer on an AC

I think I will play it safe and go with the 885's for a full 3" lift.. I will get the top plate spacers just incase I need them...

And Im asuming the spacers that toytec sends with them is the 1/4" (1/2" lift) ones, right?

 

Like I said earlier, if you call and talk to them they can give you all the information you could ever want to know about it. They are very friendly and don't mind you asking questions.

The typical top plate spacers that Toytec sells are 3/8" ( 10mm ) that provide 3/4" of lift and require longer studs

The 1/4" spacer is typically used to correct taco lean when using non - OME shocks

You can run 1/4" top spacers on both front sides without longer studs and will provide 1/2" of lift

 

ok..... So I think the 884's will be a better choice, and get the 3/8" spacers and see if that weilds a full 3"s...

I think you should stick with the 885s. 884s are more for RCs

 

884's are the same spring rate as the 885's , just shorter

Yes, This! Dont get the 884s and then the spacer- that would be stupid. Just get the 885s and you will achieve the same height. The 884s and 885s are same spring rate

 

and dont get the top plate spacers with the 885s since you're 4x4. You will be sitting way too high and your CVs will get destroyed, you will have no down travel, and it will ride like shit. Believe me, I know - I did this and then had the top plate spacers removed. I have some info on this on the first page of my build thread if u want to check that out too
