    good engine. Had a 96 honda just had a h22a, non vtec. All my buddies had integras or preludes or the lke so learned a bit about them.

    U joints are now greased and the noise is unchanged. Think if I just take the rear driveline out and go front wheel drive and see if the noise goes away or not that would eliminate it being either the carrier bearing or the u joints right? and would leave either the diff or the tranny?

    That would be a bit extreme and wouldn't tell you anything about the tranny, not that I suspect the tranny.

    Is your drive line a straight line from the back of the tranny to the rear diff? Or is there an angle in it, right at the carrier bearing?

    hey, i happen to like it too, as i am also a fan of the low and i think its a pretty clean all around good lookin fun little car. atleast when you take a turn it stays planted, unlike say my truck which rolls about 45 degrees in each direction. Its fun to play with.

    I don't expect the tranny either. haha. I just put that in there for Monte. I thought that if I pull the drive line and it still makes that noise then it is most likely the diff, if the noise is completely gone then it is most likely the drive line.

    and yes there is an angle at the carrier bearing.

    If you disconnect the drive line and the noise goes away it might be telling you something but it wont be about the diff. You've already proven that the noise goes away when you stop applying engine torque.

    Lower the carrier bearing. straighten out the drive line.
