once again to the guys that have those ez-up canopys please bring them in case there is rain so we can still enjoy bbq an beers

ill be bringing a load of firewood for us and will have heavy duty construction trash bags to use....

im gonna try to remember my tent this time lol

Haha all mine are on except for my non existent LCA skids

 

I still have to bolt on the two BudBuilt belly skids and my LCA skids.
They are all painted up & ready to go though.

Nice!! I'm not quite sure why we don't have a lift of our own at home in dads garage... 2 race cars and the amount of work in my truck would justify it

 

You have a 1st gen, you don't need LCA skids.

 

1st gen superiority it's for peace of mind

 

In my opinion it's only purpose on 2nd gens is to protect the alignment tabs. 1st gen tabs don't hang out like on the 2nd gen so it's just a piece of steel protecting another piece of steel. What's next, frame skids, axle skids, skid skids?

agreed....i do like jerrys lca so this might not have happened as bad

 

The LCAs can be a hang point on rocks. DuckCmdr (Joe) got hung up pretty good up at Rausch, got perched on a rock that lodged in the open space on the LCA.

 

I might be game for this trip but I too lazy to read all 40 something pages so can some one tell me the costs and if anyone planning to hit the easy trails.

The intent of the first 2nd gen LCA skid was to strengthen the LCA and stop it from getting hung up IMO. They are supposed to be welded to the LCA making it a huge gusset and strengthening them significantly.

I never said anything about this weeks popular design until now but I feel it is slightly lacking. The cam cover inhibits welding the skid to the LCA thus only making them useful to slide over things. Those tiny bolts aren't doing jack to strengthen it. If the tab was to get hit it's only going to bend into your cam and possibly be a damage multiplier. Now if it protruded with gussets in that area it might be better, but any hard hit could still bend them back.

If I had a welder or the ability to do it I would have welded mine long ago.....and also fixed a ton of shit like my tire gate

I kinda don't even see why they are selling so quickly?

 

its $15 for a year membership this includes all free camping
and $35 a day to wheel and $45 a day to wheel the new side....
and yes we are running the new side sat. so that is pretty stock friendly...

i dont see the benifit of any lca skids to be honest
at least the new design will give more protection from what happened to me above......
i have hit my lcas like no other......
all i see a plate welded to it doing is transfering that energy to a mounting point then you are really fucked....
same as i feel about spindle gussets.....

 

I have to disagree there. I just see it getting pushed back and twisted in there. It cant protect the bottom where everyone hits.
Either way it doesn't matter what we think.....you will know for sure soon enough with trail testing at RC
