2009 + Fabtech 6"

Does anyone know of anyone that has put a Fabtech 6" Basic System with the Dirt Logic shocks on a 2009 Tacoma Double cab 4x4?

 

For anyone having a late model Taco that has VSC and is looking for info for a 6" lift, here are replies that I received directly from Fabtech and Pro Comp.

Pro Comp - For the 05-09 Tacoma with VSC, you will need kit # K5073BMX.
The K5066BMX kit will fit 05-08 Tacoma with non-VSC.

 

Has anyone on here installed this ProComp 6" Lift kit # K5073BMX on a 09 DC. I have been searching for a lift greater than 4" that will work with the VSC option. SO far this Pro Comp option is the only one I have found available.

Yes, I just had this kit (K5073BMX) installed on my '09 DC LB 4x4 two weeks ago.
Note: You MUST use 18" wheels with this kit on the '09 with VSC!
I didn't have this handy little piece of info when I ordered all of my stuff

I sure like the look of that truck with the 6" lift. I have had an issue locating the right lift that will work with the VSC. Seems most companies arent working properly when the VSC is engaged.

I have the shortbed version so I'm not sure if mine would like as good. I was planning on moving up to some 18" gear alloy 712s in black/chrome anyway so this may work out beautifully. I will start pricing this out and try to find a local dealer for Procomp stuff.

I'm already working out the details with the stealership to install the TRD CAI, TRD SC, and new exhaust. I may as well blow this tax return all at once huh?

New to the site and I am getting ready to buy the same set up that you have. The one question that I have is do you have to run 18" only or can you go with 20" with 33 x 12.50's. Thank you for your time and your ride look outstanding.

 

Which lift you referring to? the Fabtech or the ProComp. I think you can run as small as 17's with the FABTECH but you will need a minimum of 18's with the ProComp and a Backspace of 4 3/4 or less.

 

Either one I guess. I am also new to the lift kits, so can you please explain what backspace is. Does this come with the lift or the type of wheel that I will need to get or just something else that I will need to purchase. Any recommendations I will greatly thankful.

 

Backspace and Offset is a wheel thing. Backspacing is the distance from the inside bolting surface of the rim to the outer edge of the inboard side of the rim. Offset is the distance from the exact center of the rim to the outer edges of the rim. Positive offset means that the center of the wheel is moved towards the vehicle. Negative offset means that the center of the wheel is moved away from the vehicle.

Use the search option to look for lifts and you will uncover a ton of information. First thing you need to do is determine how high a lift you want. That will determine the type of lift you can utilize. Is your truck 2WD or 4 WD? Certain types of lifts limit your wheel and tire options.

High high you want to go. Then what type, drop bracket, coil over, or leveling kit. How much you want to spend. Level kits can be a $200-500, coil overs can be few hundred to $2000. Drop bracket (6 " ) can be $2000 to several thousand.

Choices choices, it takes time to decide and then you have to match wheels and tires to make it complete. Good luck and ask alot of questions.

 

4x4 TRD Sport DC LB. I would like to go 6" lift and put 33 x 12.50 on 20" wheels. From the little research that I have done, it looks like I will be spending about 5 to 6,000 for everything. I am also a little concerned with the VSC and want to ensure that the Pro Comp kit is the right kit with no problems after the installation. You are really helping me out and thank you again. The link below was a gentlemen I found that has the perfect set up I am looking for, the only difference is he has an 05 and I do not believe that he has to worry about the VSC.

I would also recommend getting the 09 leaf springs fixed if you only have the 3 rear leaf springs, prior to installing this lift kit. You can search for the 2009 TSB on TW to better understand more about that subject.

Not on the '09 with VSC. Last email I got from Fabtech (in March) stated that their VSC kits wouldn't be shipping for another 3-4 months. They might be out by now, but I haven't had a need to check
