    Coming Soon....
I figured that was it. I've only been running for 1 month. I have never ran for fitness in my life. I've put in 53k in the month of may, 5k at a time. I don't really have any specific running goals, i'm just doing it to get into better shape and I see results every time I go out. Also, i'm not running on flat ground, damn that would be easy. First 500m are downhill, then 1.5km uphill (the killer), 1k down 1k up and 1k down.

Gosh, I'm so jelly about your terrain! Stay at it, that terrain will be your greatest ally to get into running shape. It will also be a painful partner...

Try to swith your workout a bit. Some slower but longer runs and alternate like that.

    Good luck!

With the "San Diego" weather we had today, ran 5.8 miles in 52:17. That is good for 9 flats and NO pain or discomfort in the left ankle. I consider myself cured!

    ^ good deal! :)

I'm going to slowly ramp things up in preparation for the Bridger Run- I'll add a Sunday run of half the distance of my Saturday long run. Tuesday will continue to be a easy run of ~ 5 miles, Wed- hill repeats, Sat long run and so on. I've been running three days a week after the Grand Canyon, w/ ~ 20-25 miles/week. Adding the Sunday run will get me started in the 30-ish range to begin w/ and then plan on adding a couple miles to my long run every two weeks (which will also add a mile to my Sunday runs). By the end of July (God willing!) my long run should be in the low to mid 20's and my weekly totals around the mid 40's.

You mean you rode in a bicycle, right?

    That is FAST!!!

My P.R. is 2:08:46 or whatever. It is located about 3 or for pages back. My goal is to become a consistant 1:40:00- 1:50:00 half marathon runner.

2:08 is great! Thats faster than what probably 98% of the world can do. You could easily get to 1:40. Just have to stay after it

my long run didn't turn out so well today. started out fine, got a head start on the heat and was on the trail at 7:30 AM- got about 11 miles in at a relatively decent pace, then ended up straining my left achilles and had to walk out the last three :(

got ice on it and took a couple of advil, but I think my run tomorrow is very unlikely now

Dude, sorry and yes please rest!

I did 10 miles in 1:32:17, good enough for 9:10 splits. I could've gone faster, but at 11 am I had crossfit (my third time this week), and I didn't feel like collapsing of exhaustion!

achilles is feeling better, stayed off of it yesterday and today- icing it several times a day

have been rolling the calves, I think the underlying problem is overly tight calf muscles

I'm going to go for a walk in the morning and possibly mix in a little light jogging depending on how it feels

wife and i ran the half marathon on sunday. nice run, very small, very simple. it's the 2nd year they have had the full marathon and the first year for the half.

it started in our hometown in the mountains and followed the bike path that goes all the way down to the beach... so a lot of downhill. which at the time was nice, but my knees are feeling it today big time.

we had a reasonable time for not having trained for it... 2:02:46

could have gone faster, but we were on cruise control and having an enjoyable run. why mess with that?

best medal i've ever gotten from a run... it's a bottle opener :D

    +1 and +1!

Apparently running 10 miles and then doing Crossfit within 2 hours after running will get some getting used to. So I took yesterday off.

Ran 4.5 today, time was 43:17 good enough for 9:37 splits. It was 91 degrees with 57% humidity. The Okies are complaining about the "humidity"... Man in FL we celebrate with street parties when humidity is less than 70%!!!

yes, i am a runner, but i'm so not built like one...lol.

I'm not built much like a runner either :) although I have definitely leaned out some over the last year of running, went from 195-ish to 185-ish

I think my Achilles is starting to come along- I walked/jogged 5 miles yesterday- more walking than jogging, continued icing and gentle stretching

I walked/jogged 5 miles again this morning, little more jogging than walking this time

I'm running along the Yellowstone so it's almost flat, I'm going to continue to try and add more running tomorrow along the river and possibly hit the hills this weekend for some easy runs
