HELP: NST Lite Pulleys Worth IT or NOT?

Just had a question im sure there are threads out there pertaining to NST pulleys but couldnt find any clear answer. I was thinking about adding some NST Pulleys to my truck cause a friend mentioned it as a good upgrade but i wasnt sure if it was worth the money, if you needed to buy all three or just two and if enhanced the performance of the engine any?Any suggestions and help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

 

It decreases the load on the engine by making the pullys easier to turn because of the decrease in mass.

Is it significant....I don't think so. When you're the kinda of guy where every little bit counts to more HP, then yes you should do it. Where I've seen NST pullys most applied is where the owner is running a S/C and he bought the NST pully kit that has a smaller S/C pully that gives him more boost. If you're N/A or stock, I feel its rather insignificant gains.

They do dress up the engine bay a bit.

 

So is the crank pulley necessary or should the water and alt be good enough? And i am looking to get as much performance out of my tacoma without having to charge it... have the CAI and catback already, pulleys is one of the things i heard that can give me a little more... throttle body spacer to me sounds foolish.

 

TB spacers are just a paper weight so don't waste your money.

If you are going with NST pullys might as well go will all of them, especially the crankshaft since that is the once that is going to be driving everything else. It's an extra $130, but might as well go for it since you're already doin' it.

TB spacers are good for the whistle, some guys love the whistle.

If your going to get the NST pulleys you might as well get them all.

 

If you could only afford one pulley, I would go with the crank pulley. That is the heaviest of the three and where you would notice the biggest difference. From what I have read over on XR-U it seems that the pulley's give better throttle response over stock but not that much of a performance difference.

 

Well i ended up getting the whole set, just want as much out of my truck without charging it, even if it is just throttle response (have my GXSR to blow people out of the water just like to surprise wanna be ricers with my truck lol). I enjoy fixing up my tacoma hopefully it isnt too much work to put these pulleys on, never attempted this before...

 

I will, it was either pulleys or retro fits, decided to go with performance first then body work. BTW checked out your build, tight as shit.

 

well im the DIY kind of guy, pride thing, but if i screw up my retro fit build i will definitely be keeping in touch haha.

 

I added the crank pulley when I was NA. No power increase, but a noticeable difference in quicker revs. I later added the rest of the pulleys + the s/c.

I am happy with them.

 

It is always fun to crush a little ricers heart though... its the concept.
