If I were black and lived in South Central and/or Compton, I would maybe hate LEOs. Some of us were born into situations that allow us to enjoy what the law protects, and many are born into situations where LEOs mean a possible shake down.

Im lucky LEOs are nice to me, even when I break the law sometimes (crossing double yellows, hot-boxing in my truck, etc). I have many friends that have gotten into a lot more trouble with LEOs than me for doing way less. It's strange.

When seconds count, the cops are only minutes away ;)

    Seriously.

When my shit get stolen, I don't bother the cops anymore.
They hate coming out to take the report, and it's really a waste of time.
I'm not getting my shit back, and they aren't going to catch the scumbag who stole it.
They MIGHT find it at the swap meet... but I'm still not going to get it back.
I have not reported stolen property in over 20 years.

    In danger? I dial 1911 ;)

The cops have no obligation to protect me, the courts have ruled on this.
Their greatest asset in crime prevention is as a deterrent. Bogeys generally don't hang around when they see black-and-whites.

Ya, we need them, society could not function without them, but I have no belief that they are some kind of super hero who will swoop in and rescue me from danger.

Why? Well I work with them every day at work. They keep us safe as well as going into who knows what on some calls we go to. When we get called to someone wanting to kill themselves they are the first ones to go in and make sure the scene is secure so we can do our job. Not to mention when you work with them like we do you all become friends.

I've had a couple run ins with cops on power trips, but 99% of the time they're polite when you are.

I am generally respectful of police officers and I found you get the respect you give with them. 99% of the LEO's are stand up guys, its the 1% that gives them a bad rap. The one time I stepped over the line with any police officer I got what I deserved, I spit on a korean police officer and him and his 2 buddies beat the ever living shit out of me. I would expect that from anyone, not just police.

As for the OP, he is the first to bash the POPO yet the first to hide behind them when someone looks at him cross eyed.

    You're in Canada.

But jokes aside, I tend to find law enforcement folks to be perfectly reasonable as long as you are.

If you're acting a damned fool...well...you will be treated as such.

Oh, I didnt know that I was assured of that. Its a good thing no trucks ever get stolen and no homes are broken into and no kids smoke crack.

The issue here on this board is that they censor anything truthful about LEO that doesnt make them out to be saints.

Why must people censor the truth ?

I really hadn't noticed that the site was "pro LEO" but most certainly welcome ALL Law Enforcement Officers, Peace Officers and Military personnel to this site. Probably one of the things that makes it such a great website.

Being one myself, I have a true appreciation for the pride, dedication and bravery that is put into the job every day.

That is a dangerous attitude to have.

    You didn't do anything wrong.

Cop pulls you over for a broken taillight.

    "Where are you heading?"
    "Weston"
    "Where are you coming from?"
    "Easton"
    "What were you doing?"
    "Visiting friends"
    (stepping back, hand on gun)
"Please step out of the vehicle"

What you don't know is that a liquor store was robbed and the cashier shot a little while ago in Easton, and a witness described a "About 6ft tall white guy in a black jacket in a smaller red pickup"

You didn't do anything wrong, but your weekend is now completely fucked. Even if charges are not filed, and even if the let you go after searching your vehicle and finding no gun, you are not getting back the $500+ in towing and impound fees.
