Stereo swaps are so simple that the next thing you're going to buy is a good paging alarm system and a PitBull to leave in the cab.

Seriously... Pop the AC controls out.
10mm socket on an extension, remove 4 bolts from behind the AC controls, and the head unit just pops right out.

I did my complete install in about 2 hours, and that including (by myself) loosening the cap and sliding it back, removing the 3rd brake light and a bunch of plastic trim panels inside, routing the GPS and Sirius antenna cables, reinstalling the brake light and cap, interior plastic, mounting the Sirius receiver, and routing the various cables and cleaning up the installation with zip-ties.

I have the Rosen unit, but install will be similar for the OttoNavi.

My panel was not that big of a deal.
I used a very small screwdriver, two hands, and my knees, to pry open the clips that "lock" the module into the frame. Took a bit of back and forth but I finally got all of the clips unlocked and the module out.

    Reminder to the previous poster....

DO NOT TURN YOUR KEY ON WITH THE HAZARD/CLOCK MODULE UNPLUGGED!!!!!

The SRS/Airbag system is tied into that module and turning the key on with the module unplugged will trigger an SRS code and lock the system. You'll have to take it to the dealer to have the SRS reset (won't be free).

I would also suggest finding another metal piece under the dash somewhere for a ground plane for your GPS antenna. Usually if you look further back in the dash or on top of the gauge cluster there are metal components that it all bolts to that you can stick it to.

Thanks for the pointer. GPS reception so far seems pretty good while parked in the carport, better than my Garmin portable unit. Will move the antenna if reception becomes poor.

The backing plates are on the inside of the frame, but you're right on the bolts. There wasn't a hole in the frame or the backing plate so I wasn't sure if I was supposed to drill it or not. Also, the radiator/shroud was fairly close to the frame on the drivers side so I wasn't sure about drilling through it. I'll probably take another look at it today now that everything's bolted down tight.

Yup, I had the same issue so I ended up calling Billy about it. He said he doesn't drill the second hole so people don't have to drill a perfectly aligned hole in the frame. This way ensures alignment. Good luck with it though. And great choice on the bumper. I love mine.

Yeah, I'm loving it too! lol I love the fact I can grab the center hoop and the whole truck will move when I lift or push down on it. :D

And his thought process makes sense. I had to drill out the hole for the bottom bolt on the passenger side, but I think maybe that steel bar (with those wing tab things you remove) was bent a little or something. That was the only modification I had to make. Kinda surprising considering I've pulled vehicles with the front hook and hit a deer before getting this bumper. I manually straightened the bent pieces before the bumper arrived so seeing everything line up correctly made me happy.

    Sweet job.

How big/thick of a backing plate did you put under it? I really don't trust the bed material for "point" loads like this.
Personally, I'd have use a load spreader at least 4" square and 1/4" thick under that.

Or used the bed bolts right next to them. Can't get anything stronger than a bolt running to the frame....
