So I pickup my 08 Tacoma Prerunner tomorrow & I'm plotting to change out the radio to a double din unit. I've found the dash kit to do this in black & I want to get the piece that surrounds it in black as well. Does anyone have a part number for this? Or where it can be purchased? I'm sure I could get it at a dealership, I just like to do my homework & would like to buy one from someone here. Thanks in advance for your help!

take a high grit sand paper and sand it yourself and paint it to match the double din black kit.

I painted that piece, my trim kit, my a/c backing plate, and center console flat black wirh flat clear. Looks awesome but will scratch. That piece is over 100 bucks if you buy a new one.

I scuffed mine with a scotch brite.

Used a textured dupli-color paint, just to add some texture (a light spray).

Followed it with a Krylon fusion Semi-flat black.

How do you get this out?! My stereo is out and it feels like there's still something holding it besides the yellow clips? Do I just reef on it?

The dash on the driver's side also holds it in place. The driver's side has to be loosened to get it off.

very rarely should you "reef" on something to remove it.. Especially from the interior. Take off other surroundings if need be to make your life easier!

I know I shouldn't...just didn't see any way to get it out. What is it that holds it in place on the drivers side and do I have to have to have the whole section out or just loose? Seems funny that you'd have to start at the driver side door panel to get this piece out...but it is what it is I suppose.
