Wow. You actually read the owners manual. I prefer to fly (or at least drive) by the seat-of-the-pants. A manual obviously takes all the fun out of it.

LOL. Just kidding. I read the manual as well, several times.

I'm surprised it doesn't have a flip up guard on it. That is the PASSENGER EJECT ACTIVATION BUTTON!

I bought my truck used from the dealer, and have the same button. It lights up everyonce in a while and I press it to turn the light off. Whatever its purpose was, it doesnt do it anymore thats for sure.:notsure:

The red button turns on/off the valet feature. I had a '99 Tacoma that was originally sold in Texas, and it had this option (it's a Gulf States Toyota dealer/port installed option). Do you have a key that looks like the one below?

Now a real killer, when he picked up the ZF-1, would've immediately asked about the little red button on the bottom of the gun.

I've got a little red button like that in my 2007 DCSB Sport:

    d087b643_53b4e85d5a2a5f940c2c2d2fd9c9464536fb8daf.jpg

It's also got this sticker on the Driver's door:

    2022a5aa_32a14b232a60ba60788db15a1813e141bc5193c4.jpg

You set the alarm by double clicking the lock function. If you piss the truck off with the alarm set like by bumping it real hard, breaking an electrical circuit, disconnecting the battery, etc., not only does the alarm go off blaring the freaking horn, flashing lights but it also disables the trucks ignition.

The only way to reset the alarm once you've pissed it off is to insert the key, turn to the on position and hold the button for a few seconds till it shuts off.

As earlier posters said, it is the Flux Capacitor cancellation button. You should always push it before hitting 88 mph, (unless you have some time travel to do).

You can confirm whether your truck has the flux capacitor by looking in the passenger side storage bin in the bed, it should have something similar to the attached pic.

Then the newer system must integrate with the factory remote keys.
