    Yes and no.

SCOTUS did agree that DUI checkpoints are a violation of 4A/5A, but they ruled in support of them "for the greater good" while placing specific restrictions on procedures.

As per his specific comment I was not directing my reply against officers, it was toward the negative and degrading stigma that comes with something like being arrested (some thing a cop can do pretty much when ever they want). Even if a person who is arrested is 100% innocent it is a financial night mare to recover from, word of it spreads fast and it can hurt you in almost all areas of your life.

That is why i am not a fan of police, as I have said before they have the power to severely fuck up someone's life for something that is really minimal.

I really appreciate that. In a debate/conversation like this it is very easy to just be seen as an ignorant blathering idiot, and it is good to know, as I would like to be able to have a conversation about a heated topic like this and not just instantly be viewed as so stuck in one view that any thing I say cannot be taken seriously or that I am being ignorant and naive.

I partly agree this, as I have said the law does not work for the average citizen, the odds are against the average person almost all the time and that is where it starts to get extremely un fair and where the distrust and eventual negativity comes from.

Might as well just end/lock the thread...not like anyone'e opinions or thoughts are going to changed any way.

I don't really have a problem with cops in general, but I've met a couple of real DBs. I don't think the bolded statement is necessarily true, because just like not everyone in my line of work is equally good at what we do, not every cop is equally good at what they do. Most cops are professional and do a decent job, but when they screw up they have the potential to ruin someone's life. Even if the person isn't convicted they can have a cloud of suspicion that can haunt them for the rest of their lives. And the cops are where an investigation begins, so if we're going to hate on the DA and the judge and the jury, why not include the police, too? The DA was just doing his job, the judge was just doing his job, etc. It CAN be the cop's fault (it's not always. Maybe even not usually, but it's possible). I think the most common thing I've seen cops do is assume that since they've seen similar stories a gazillion times, they assume they know what happened, and sometimes stories don't run along the typical lines. Everyone does that, it's not specific to police, but it becomes a big problem from someone who has the power to throw me in jail on the basis of his wrong assumption.

Not saying all cops are bad, I've had predominately good experiences with police. And something I've noticed about this sort of discussion: when I make a mistake at my job, our customers don't decide everyone in my line of work is bad, they assume I had a bad day or perhaps they think I'm just plain incompetent, maybe they'll request a different consultant or hire another company. When a cop does something wrong, it tends to reflect on all other cops everywhere. It doesn't really make much sense.

Ya know, for all the whining about Sunflower, he does get the discussion going on here. If he was really so terrible maybe we should all quit posting in his threads? People like the arguments he causes, otherwise he would have gotten bored with us a long time ago. We keep him going. Just sayin'.

Hmmm, definitely don't like "that's why I'm not a fan of police". Try to keep an open mind. There are many things in life(though minor) that can ruin your life. Its just the way it is. LEOs are just trying to do their job. Give them some respect.

Your right.. my statement was broad and innacurate. Probably because I've already typed a small book on this thread from my phone and I was tired of typing so i didn't go into details lol

Touché...as long as scope and procedure is correct, they are lawful and constitutional

My comments still stand as this small sect goes around deliberately trying to cause problems to lure a cop into fucking up

I have no problem with proper punishment etc if a cop is out of line, but I strongly disagree with trying to incite it...I look at it as entrapment (which is expressly forbidden by a Leo)
