Wheel and Tire fitting for 2012 Tacoma

I am looking to buy KMC XD Series Monster wheels, they are 18x9 with a -12mm offset(dont quite understand the offset thing) and am looking to put Nitto Trail Grapplers LT285/65R18. I have a 2012 Double cab 4x4 with an offroad package and a 3in Pro Comp suspension lift. I just want to make sure the bolt pattern matches up and whatnot and they will fit. THANKS!

 

6x5.5 bolt pattern.
Just make sure the hub size is correct 106 on tacoma's .
Im running 325/60/18 on a 10 inch rim but they do stick out alot 2 inchs maybe.

alright sweet, so check this out I really dont understand this offset/ backspacing thing. like ive looked at the diagrams and whatnot but am just not getting it. for the same rim, same size and everything there are different offsets/backspacing ie.35mm offset with 6.38 backspacing, or-12mm offset with 4.53 backspacing, and there is a bunch more. what does this stuff mean!?

 

Backspacing is just another way of saying offset, I dont know if its always the case but I have found that backspacing is measured standard and offset is measure metric. 4.53" backspacing means the part that mates with your hub is 4.53" away from the insde lip of the rim. -12mm backspacing means that the part that mates with your hub is 12mm closer to the inside of the rim then center so a +35mm offset would mean the part that mates with your hub is 35mm closer to the outside of the rim from center. most rims are closer to the inside of the rim then the outside. My wheels are 18x9 with a 4.5" backspacing and a 0mm offset. that might clarify it for you, 4.5" from the insde lip of the rim on a 9" rim is the center of the rim, so it would be a 0mm offset

 

awesome, that does clarify alot, so just so i got it straight, basically this will all depend if my tires "stick out" or not? and is there any combo that wont work on tacomas? when i searched it by vehicle type thats what came up for rims, so im guessing they will work, just curious how they will look ya know. thanks for all the help too, i appreciate it, ive never done any rim stuff before.

 

I have a 3" lift on my 2012 tacoma. I am running 17" wheels with 4.50 backspacing with 285/70/17. I couldnt get my tires from rubbing my uca so i had to go with a 1" spacer. I still rubbed some of the inner fender but nothing a little trimming can help!

 

Ummm, yeah, what you have to watch out for is clearance. My rims wouldnt have hurt to have a little bit positive offset but I wanted the "deepest" look on the face I could. The more you suck that rim under the truck the more chance of hitting calipers and what not, the further u stick it out the greater chance of scrubage on a fender. Best bet is to find out back spacing on your stock wheels and not go any less then that, (remember offset on your stock wheels will do you no good if your changing the width because it's measured from the center of the rim)

 

I've been doing the wheel/tire/offset/backspacing for about a month and its a tricky bussiness getting the right combo to look the way you imagined it.

Eagle alloys
18x10 with -24 offset.
325/60/18 which are 33'
And a fair bit of plastic trimming on a 3' lift. (But i have an 2006 maybe if it was new i'd be little more hesitant about the trimming.)

man those are wide tires!!! just so im clear, if i did go with the -12mm offset, the tires would stick out a little? or would they be under the fender more? im looking for them to stick out a little bit so i can actually turn my wheel.

 

I have the same exact setup on mine with no uca srub, just very and i mean very minor fender rub

 

Yes, means that they would stick out further then a 0mm offset or a - offset, just be careful, further you go out the greater the chance of rubbing fenders, 0 offset is a little safer

 

sweet deal, i think im going to go with the -12mm offset, i mean we are only talking about a half an inch stickin out, not much at all, and if it rubs which i dont think will be too much of a problem for 33" tires anyway, then ill just trim it up a little. gotta pay the cost to be a boss right? haha
