    I know a welder here at school that is itchin to mod. I'm in no rush even care if I do anything but for shits and giggles is there anything I can do with the stock exhaust that will improve it?

    On a similar note, how many catalytic converters are in the 2nd gen tacos?

    While I am not sure how to improve the stock exhaust I can answer your other question, there are a total of four cats on our trucks.

    remove the 2 rear cats and straight pipe....it sounds awesome man, and it wont hurt anything!. and find you a decent muffler to put on there.....you'll love the change.

    Thats what I suspected and thought i heard to do but I didnt want to sound like a dumbass. Does the straight pipe and removed cats add anything in terms of performance?

    Not really. Best thing would be a better flowing muffler. On my 2.7 I went with 2.5" pipes, but I was SC'd. :)

    I havent measured the secon gen 2.7 pipes. They look like 2.25". Yes, headers are much different than a "Y" pipe.
