What year is your truck?

just curious to see what the most popular year for the second generation taco is... I have a 2008, but did have a 2011 reg cab, and honestly, i like the truck alot better without the VSC, although ATRAC would be nice!

2011 here. Wish the regular LSD was still around ALSD is almost useless...ATRAC is handy in some situations...

haha yea i figured that! i didnt know if there was an actual reason.. that happens sometimes.. example the 2003 arctic cat firecat was the best year for them.. and 04/05 were the same body style

Honestly if they were available (and I wasn't broke ass) when I bought mine (april.2010) then I would've bought a 2011, by that point they worked all the bugs out of the 2nd gens and before installing the New Emissions air pump in the 2012's.

But all things considered, besides a squeeky heater fan motor and a faulty media head unit (6'disc CD player gears jammed and broke) my 2007's been put through hell and back and keeps kickin.

I've since replaced my head unit with that of a 2010 models. not sure which year they did the stereo update, but new one has Aux inputs and kicks ass seems like a little more pump in the volume too, but that might just be my imagination.

 

my 6 disc hasnt shit the bed yet knock on wood haha and the blower motor is the original one and does NOT squeak (yet)... to be completely honest, my 2011 reg cab had more problems, rattles, and vibes than my 2008 does, and its 3 years older with 45k more miles on it. it rides better than new with the 5100s and wheelers 3 leaf progressive AAL i put on two weeks ago, im very happy with it, minus the payment every month

 

Wait, you had a 2011 then sold n bought a 2008? I'm curious as to why.

And that doesn't surprise me, suspension upgrades usually yeild better results. I have a standing rule, anything that breaks, I don't just fix it, I upgrade it because obviously the original part was faulty.

 

i had a 2011 reg cab 4x4 base, and traded it in for a 2008 double cab short bed TRD off road. giving up the 3 years was worth 2 more doors, 2 more cylinders, better shocks (even though i upgraded them), 65hp, factory towing package with tranny cooler, rear diff lock, etc. my 08 used with 59k miles sticker was 6k more than my brand new 2011 reg cab

But the added power and sizing convenience is worth every penny. I've owned extended cabs my whole life. I couldn't see myself in anything smally. I've sat and driving full size reg cab pick ups before and it just seems bloody weird.

 

yea 2 seats and no arm rest sucked. had there been an AC when i bought my DC i wouldve probably wen with that, but im pretty happy with the double cab, short bed. i dont like the double cab long bed...

 

DBLB is a waste of space on the road, ALMOST as bad as owning a full size pickup. (Hear that OZ?? )

I like having my extra foot of space, I haul around a lot of quads and skidoos.
