Curious about this.... Can anyone give me a quick explanation of what the difference xl and non xl version is? Resonator right? And what exactly does that do...

ahh alright thanks. It's a 50 buck price difference, so I might just get the non xl version and if I really want to I think I can buy the resonator and have it put in

It is welded on in place of my TRD muffler, cut off before the axle, and turned down so the exhaust isnt blasting into my axle:

    Too few to list.
The aero turbine was one of my choices but decided to go with the Spintech. Never really compared the two side by side but the Spintech can be loud when you get on the gas but has low tone rumble on the highway (no drone!) but I did put a resonator (magnaflow) before the muffler.

I'm thinking about adding a resonator to my Aeroturbine. Mine is way too loud also lol.. I mean it was fun for awhile but the loud gets old real quick. Sometimes gives me headaches on long drives.

I've only had my Tacoma for a few days so it's still sitting here bone stock but my last truck was a 07' 2500 Dodge Ram with the Hemi in it. The 2500 Rams don't come with the resonators built in like the 1/2 tons do so I went with the 3030XL setup with a single 3" pipe coming out in stock location with a 4" stainless tip and it was the best sounding exhaust I've had to date. Sounded different than everybody else and had a nice mellow rumble to it when drove normal but man did it scream when you put the throttle to the floor. Had a ticked off almost mad max sound to it if that makes sense. Zero highway drone which was nice and it didn't have that crackling popping sound that most open exhausts get on deceleration, Flowmaster Original 40 series comes to mind if you know what I'm talking about. I found a dealer that sells on ebay and I paid $110 shipped for that 3030XL muffler which was a great deal at the time.

That's what I did with mine. The nostalgia of just being super loud wore off after about 6mos. I also didn't like the fact that if you were in the backseat of my truck, you couldn't hear ANYTHING

I have a 2012 pre runner and was thinking of getting a dual flowmaster...but now I came across this and confused:confused:.

I wanted to get a nice loud sound, flowmaster's are pricey even on ebay. With the Aero Turbine would I need to change the original exhaust pipe...I was planning on cutting off factory resonator and cat.

Would that be smart with an Aero Turbine and the turn down can i keep it factory behind the axle or would that make it quieter?

yes, you will need to cut off your stock muffler and have the aerotubine welded on ($30 at most muffler shops).

I do not recommend removing any of the stock factory cats.

Yea the stock muffler goes but all the other piping can stay, can the turn out be left in the stock location?

Any specific reason behind not removing the cats?

you can weld the stock turn out back on but most people I know turn down the exhaust before the axle as the axle can kink the exhaust pipe when off roading.

Check my build thread...too much to list.
Won't removing the cats make a code pop up? I got the 2525XL cutoff before the axle. I love how it sounds. Even the wife does and she doesn't like loud exhaust at all. I'm sure her opinion will change once I get headers.
