    What do you guys think?

I have read up on both groups, the ones who don't want to raise the speed limit and then I have also read up on the group of people who do want to raise the speed limits.

The oil companies want you to raise the speed limits.

I really don't mind the speed limits when I go home (to Oregon). There are some places that could be a bit faster though, such as I-5 through the middle of nowhere. But for the most part I think they are fine. More speed = more accidents usually.

I agree with your statement. Is there any other highways that you like the speed limited to be raised on?

I was thinking I-205 need to be raised to 70mph for cars and 60mph for simi-trucks.

I think I-84 could go up to 70. I believe it's at 60 for most of it. There are some stretches that need to be slower of course. I-205 really needs to be upped. I NEVER see any cars on it when I am going anywhere... then again I put my plane tickets around rush hours. I-5 from the 205 down to Salem should be 70, then back to 70 from West Salem to Eugene. HWY 22 needs to be slowed down... WAY too many people I know have died on the road.

TX just raised its speed limits. We got rid of the 65mph night time limit and I-44 is now 75mph.

I still drive 66mph on my way to work to save gas. Im not in that big of a hurry

YES Oregon needs to raise all speed limits! I hate driving I-5 and 84 at 65 mph

I am not too sure about I-84, seems like a narrow rural highway. The on ramps are short which leaves you a small distance to get a running start, especially for the old ladies and people who don't know how to drive well. Haha we have a lot of those people in Oregon!

I-84 is 55mph, but I drive 70mph on all rural highways.

75mph is pretty fast. I think Wyoming speed limit is 80mph on some majoer highways...

Most of I-84 on the eastern side of the state is 65. Many sections are a bit "iffy" even at 65 - and especially during winter travel. Don't think it would benefit anyone to raise the limit out here. Besides, all the folks from Idaho still drive 75 when they get to Oregon. :D

On the other hand, some of the small towns out here have a 25mph speed limit going through their town (state highway to boot). 25 is painfully slow and I would love to see that change.

It is a long straight stretch of Hwy with no real hills or turns. very very flat area.

TN was talking about doing this last year. most our speed limits are 55. on I-40 I-75 AND 275. 75 could prob go up to 65 and be good. well once you get into anderson count (the county north of Knoxville/knox county) it does to up to 65. some places could easily go up to 70. like on i-40 from knoxville to nashville. only 2 kinda small cities in between. it’s a 4h drive, i don’t think it goes over 65.

on/in some places i look at the sign and think of or more as a suggestion. lol some road or state high ways are 55mph and have a hell of alot more curves than the interstate.

edit: in anderson county where is goes up to 65. it stays 55 for trucks. but hell they do 75 and even 80 MPH. and only cops that run from mile marker 117 to 122 are THP. no where to cross so county dose not do anything because at mile marker 118 is the county line.

The environmentalist are most likely not in favor of raising speed limits in Oregon because of the exhaust fumes cars give out when running... WHat would your argument be towards these people who oppose raising the speed limit? How would you ague this?

i know.:( but they all ways cut me off! i can’t hardly go any where with out having a hybrid cut me off! or they try and not let me merge on to the interstate. stair at me when i’m passing them in the slow lane because they like to do 50 in a 55 in the fast lane.

edit: had some bitch flip me off when i did that one time. she got something in return. ;)
