Leveling kit question why the front?

Ok so my basic question is why raise the front to match the rear rather than lower the rear to match the front? I don't need the extra height. In fact lowering the rear a tad seems like a better solution for my needs.

That would require short, not as beefy leafs, therefore you would loose load capacity and bottom out easier

 

Load the bed with a few hundred pounds, problem solved.

 

Depends on the truck.
For a 5-lug, you have three options. Spacers to raise the front, 4x4/Prerunner leafs to lower the rear, or blocks to lower the rear.

4x4 and Prerunner do not have the latter two options, and generally, those owners want larger tires so they are looking for more lift.

I'm not the kind to lower my truck to level it, If ima level it, ima lift it to accomplish my ultimate goal

Haha Thanks guys for your help. It's a 2010 extended cab. 2 wheel drive sport. I don't need to go baja'ing in the thing. The most weight it carries it 3 dirtbikes and gear. The only off road it sees it some crappy dirt roads. Maybe a curb check here and there. I'm due for tires so I think I'm going with the bf goodrich ta's KO. 265/70/17's. I'm gonna powdercoat the rims flat black while I'm at it. The whole reason I ask if I can drop the rear to match is because I don't need to carry 3,000lbs and if I drop the back the 2" or whatever it is makes it a tad easier to load bikes and more importantly it's easier on my furry critters to get in and out of.
Btw why does it matter if I wanta lower my truck? I paid for it. Why did you jack yours up? Only to go to tge gocery store. It's not like I'm slamming it to the ground. It's a inch or two.

 

Now that I think about it...is there even an option for a leaf pack that lowers the tacomas but provides a stiffer ride to compensate for larger loads??

Maybe he needs to build his own leaf pack?? Might be a little stiff when riding around town, but should handle the 3 bikes pretty well. Kinda interesting situation, but I'm sure you can make something work!

 

Ok, well that does look pretty good, kinda tough and sleek lookin at the same time. The kit they have on that thing looks like it retains factory rear springs, so the question is how to find a kit that just does the rear the same way. So another words a 1.5"-2" in the back instead of the full 3"

 

Dump everything but the main leaf (& yes, dump the overload) Go to the local wrecking yard & look for some early Dodge Dakota springs, minimal ARC, thicker than 'Yota springs, about the same width & these Dakotas are 3/4 ton rated but sit fairly low , load your bikes & call it a day.....

Shorter leafs = more resistance to compression....

This thing is dope!! My wife absolutely hates lowered trucks. I think they can look good as long as they can still use the bed. This is too low for her taste I think

He means to take apart the leaf spring pack in the rear, and only reuse the main leaf, the one that connects to the shackle.

 

Ok got it. Then get Dakota springs? Or can I get some fancy springs? Is there anyway to do the math so it will only drop it the 1.5 inches to level it?

I'd leave it alone, if you have springs that set you lower, but don't sag, that's because they are stiff leafs, so unloaded it's going to ride like a hard tail.

With the truck how it is now, im sure it rides nice on the road, and when loaded, sits level and rides very smooth.
