I just noticed on my Indigo Ink Pearl Tacoma that there is some
paint discoloration on the rocker panels. Look right at the crack between the door and door sill.

    Before you get started:
    1. Car is cleaned by me with products safe for automotive paint.
    2. I've never "bottomed out" or "mudded" my tacoma.
    3. The discoloration is only on the drivers side and only on the orange peel on the bottom of the truck.
    4. When you run your finger over it there is no "step" or "ledge" in the paint.
5.You can't feel where clear coat or paint has come off.
    6. If the images are upside down...I apologize and mods please fix. I already tried flipping them.
    7. No body work was done but I did purchase the car used. It does not appear to have been repainted

    What could have caused this?

looks like pants were rubbing of the paint from getting in and out of the truck

could it have been cleared over again without repainting?

all tacomas are like this - the bottom few inches have a "rough/orange peel" look. I think so when you do off road it and things get ugly/chipped it blends in better.

I talked to a paint shop guy about this once and he hates it cause the texture is difficult to match.

i already knew this might happen since i have seen it before so when i got my truck i bought some 3M door edge guard tape and ran it over that area,

we'll see if it holds up this way
