sbeau1960 has some wander issues and maybe alignment issues with his .85 set up and Monday my truck is going if for 5100s all around with a .85 in front.
I'm also going with 265/70-17s too and don't want any issues.I'm too tired to deal with another truck issue.;)
Anybody have this set up without alignment issues?
Help a couple of guys out here.:)

Still working on mine, experimenting with tire pressues today, once I figure out what feels best I'm going for another alignment and hopefully that will be the end of it.

I'm a bit nervous about my install seeing the problems you're having and with .85 and one size up tires.

I just got back from picking up my truck at the dealer the truck's ride is so smooth even with the TSB.
Highway speeds at 60,70,80 MPH has no steering wheel shake,no vibrations,no pull to the left or right and no wandering. No problems and I really want to keep it that way.
I have a new set of 5100s and the Toytec TP14 top plate to level off the drivers side.I really don't want any problems and I would leave things alone other than the adding of the taller 265/70-17 Michelin LTX AT2s but the rear is up from the TSB.
I just went through a headache with the supercharger.
I'll see what info I can read on this thread. Not many .85 baby lifts around.
Maybe someone will get a decent combo deal on new in the box 5100s and the Toytec TP14 top plate.

Probably this Monday I'll change over to G-Ridge SS brake lines and Amsoil Dot 3 brake fluid to go with my Hawk Performance Ceramics I have on already which should firm up the brake pedal more.

Before I installed the 5100's my truck wandered to the left; I didn't really pay attention to the camber of the front wheels. After installation of the 5100's I noticed a positive camber on my wheels (remember though, I didn't really pay attention to the camber of my wheels before, so it could have been like that all along), but the "wandering" does not seem to have changed at all. So as far as alignment issues goes, I don't think I have any after installing the 5100's

Mine went in today... 5100's all around, front .85 and TSB... I'm stuck @ work now and can not pick up till Wednesday:mad:
Will update when I get to drive it..
Dealer who gave me shit thru the whole TSB process went kicking and screaming until I called the 1 800 number, calls me when they were done and says... Guess what? Your drivers side rear had a busted spring:confused: I never knew

Picked it up and @.85 + TSB no problems with ride or steering....
    I do have a ?
I read somewhere that Tacos have a lean? Is it in the rear... my front measures perfectly level @ 35" The rear is 36-1/4 on drivers and 37" on the pass. side
Is that normal... I always thought the "lean" was on the fronts of the taco??

How much firmer is the ride?
Do you have any alignment numbers?
I thought the lean was helped with a 1/4" top plate like the ToyTec TP14 placed on the driver's side 5100.

The ride seems fine... I'm guessing the tsb firmed it up and the 5100's smoothed it back out... the ride is fine. I do notice less roll when I flew around the highway off ramp...
I did not get alignment specs... unless it's buried in the toyota paperwork. I had no problem on/ off highway
That spacer is for the front? Mine measures high in the back

    Interesting,thanks.:)
It seems you feel the ride is close to stock and not too firm.I found the TSB actually made the rear ride smoother and better.
I,probably along with sbeau1960 just wish you has some alignment numbers.:)

After driving for a day, I know the 5100's are much better!
Crossed railroad tracks last night that I hit daily and found it to glide over vs. a thud and small jump. Overall :yay:
As far as alignment spec's, The TSB shows that tacos (trd or non) (2wd or 4wd) (access cab or double) etc have a different specs.

I have 5100's for the front in the mail. I was unaware of problems until I saw this. I had planned on setting them to .85 and I have had the suspension TSB done. I guess I'll watch this thread and hopefully learn.

Ok, here's my update, I'll post it here and on my "Alignment Advice" thread....

Using seat of the pants as well as the chalk test, I determined that 36psi front and rear was the best setting for my 265/75R16 Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo LT's. I took it to my Ford dealer this morning and requested that they try to set the Caster as close to the max allowed of 2.8* as possible, set the Camber at 0* and set the Toe to the max allowed of +.07*. The alignment tech was a cool guy, drove a lifted Ford himself and said he's worked on lots of lifted vehicles.

He called me back after working on it for over an hour and showed me the results. With the Camber set to 0*, the maximum Caster setting he could achieve was 1.6* per side. I asked him his advice, he said he would rather set the Camber up a few degrees which would give him some room to adjust the Caster. He also said he recommended setting the right side Caster a little higher than the left to compensate for road crown issues, if they were set exactly the same the truck would pull badly on any type of crowned surface.

So I left him alone and headed to the car auction, picked up a couple of Tauruses for my fleet and headed back over to check his progress. He was just finishing up after spending almost 3 hours messing with it and test driving and here's what he came up with...

Camber set to 0.4* on both sides.
Toe set to +.06* on both sides
Caster set to 1.9* on the left, 2.1* on the right.

He said that was as much Caster as he could dial in with the lifted shocks, it would need the modified UCA to achieve any higher setting. I thanked him, stuck a twenty in his pocket for his trouble, and headed out to the freeway. It tracked straight down the road, not affected by right lane crown, seemed more stable in a straight line than it had before. His final adjustment specs aren't significantly different than the previous settings from the Toyota dealer, in fact the Caster is a bit less, but everything is dialed in equally and the small amount of toe in seems to help. I'm also running slightly less tire pressure, had them pumped up to 40psi before. Haven't had a chance to put a lot of highway miles on it yet and it's not windy today so I can't say if the wind drift problem is improved or not, but all in all I think it drives at an acceptable level now.

Don't know how you guys that are setting the 5100's at 1.75 and 2.5" are getting your alignments anywhere close without new control arms, obviously the .85" setting makes a large difference in the adjustment range, the higher settings are only going to be worse. I'm sure each vehicle is slightly different and tires make a difference as well, but for anyone planning to lift it more than .85" I'd certainly recommend the modified UCA replacement.

Here's the new alignment spec sheet, as well as the Toyota alignment for comparison's sake...

hm. you seem to know your stuff. So I have the bilstein's set to 1.75" and there is def. a positive camber that bugs me(the truck drifts to the left badly). What UCA's do you suggest I get to correct this issue? or can a mechanic fix the problem with the OEM UCA's?
