5100s set at 1.75 Installed Today - Pic

Finally got my Bilstein 5100s set at 1.75" installed today. I am very happy with the look and feel of the new setup. I had the rear leaf TSB done a while back and this levels it out nicely. I have not noticed any vibrations or problems so far.

I had the four wheel alignment done and I asked for the data sheet from the alignment. They said it came out fine but I don't know what I'm looking for so not sure. Can anyone explain how to read the alignment data and what to look out for?

Did you use your stock coils? If so, let us know how it rides. I am planning to put the 5100's on with my stock coils. Did you do anything to the rear besides the tab leafs? It looks great.

 

Is there really a 1.75" difference in the front and back? My 12 DC seems to sit level, but it may be my head is not straight.

 

I just did this on my 08 DC sport. Looks exactly like mine, I have the TSB springs as well. It rides awesome, way better than the original bilsteins. I have a bit of vibes from my front diff though, so im planning on installing the sleeve from ECGS. But the ride is fantastic.

 

Stock coils and nothing in back but the upgraded leaf pack from Toyota. The rear leaf caused the ride to stiffen up a bit and the new shocks have had the same effect. So overall the ride is stiffer but not excessively. It was kind of sloppy before.

As for the ride height, it measures 36 1/2" from ground to fender in the back and 36 1/4" in the front so it sits almost perfectly level. I am hoping the back doesn't settle too much more

 

You should have done the 5100's at 1.75 in front first, then gotten the tsb leaves installed.. Toyota always gives you an alingement for free after the tsb leaves.

Looks good though! I have the same setup. Just now getting around to doing 5100 rear shocks.

 

This is what im thinking about doing this time around. I want to keep it as close to stock as possible but do like to run a little bit bigger tire. I had a 4runner before and went with the toytc 3''. I liked it but I really dont need all that anymore. I have a 4cyl Access and im getting the TSB around the end of this month.

 

Do your front coils first..then get the tsb. They align it for free then

I went with 1.75 in the front, tsb in rear. It rides great, and looks great with a 265 75 16. And mileage isn't totally shot!

 

Looks good, seems to be leveled out nicely, I almost got my 5100's installed today but got sidetracked, I also did the rear leaf TSB and plan on setting the 5100's at 1.75"
Wish I had snapped to it and done what others are saying about putting the 5100's on first the getting the TSB because they did do a free alignment at Toyota, oh well live and learn.

What does Toyota charge for the TSB leaves if it's not under warranty?

Go in and ask. Say "I'm having this bottoming out issue with my truck, and I looked on the internet and found this "Harsh Ride TSB". I didn't know this existed and I'm out of warranty. Can you help me out"

3 options:
-They help you out fully and cover everything (Unlikely)
-They make you pay for labor and parts are free, or vice versa, free parts pay labor (Most likely)
-They don't help you out at all (Maybe)

Best option is drop $80 on a Toytec AAL. It will increase your payload capacity just as much or even more so than the TSB you're gonna have to install it yourself or find a shop, plus alignment.

 

^ Only thing is the TSB leaves give roughly 1/2" lift while a toytec AAL gives 1.5 or 2.. I don't know if they sell anything less than 1.5" AAL.

 

I am planning to do the 5100s at 1.75" to level my 2012 DCSB TRD Sport. It already had the rear 4 pack leaf. I don't want to make it ride too firm or harsh. Will this approach be disappointing compared to stock. I also have no vibration issues that I have been hearing about. I don't want to introduce this an an issue.

Just wondering am I better to do Eibach or OME heavier coils and set the 5100s at stock to achieve the 2" lift? Will this ride smoother or are the stock coils the way to go? New to this and open to ideas. Thanks.

 

Just so you know, Eibach coils are heavier than OME coils. On your double cab, OME 884 coils would be a very nice riding option and would put you at 2" of lift. Preloading your stock coils will be stiffer than stock but at 1.75 shouldn't be too bad.

Would the OME 884 accomplish the 2" lift with the 5100s at stock position or the .85" or 1.75" clip position? Do the OME coils provide lift because they are taller or firmer than stock coils? If so, maybe the best ride is with the OME 884 over the preloaded stock coils? What would you suggest?

 

When ever you run an after market coil, don't go above 0.85 setting. The eibach coil at 0.85 setting will give close to 3 inches of lift.

The ome 885 and eibach coils are fairly similar in length and spring rate.

The ome 884 coil should be used if you are running a plate armor bumper and should not be set any higher than the 0 setting on the 5100s.

Also bilstein does not warranty their struts if you use any coil other than eibach
