Finally got the NFab lightbar, it looks great except that the light mounting tabs are welded on the front (leading edge) of the bar. All the pictures show, and I was told that the tabs would be on the rear of the bar. Sooo, I'm not sure what's going to happen. Either I'm going to return it, or they are going to fix the error in the fabrication and send me a new one.

With the tabs mounted on the front, when you install lights, the hardware will show from the front and, in my opinion, stick out like a sore thumb.

With the tabs mounted on the rear, the hardware for lights will be hidden and look smooth and clean. This is what I wanted and one big reason I bought this particular lightbar, as I was told the 2012 model would be the same as the 2005-2011 version.

Hey guys, I was gunna make a new thread, but figure I can start here with you guys. I am looking for someone with a 2012 who wants to be my guine pig so I can design my 2012 lightbar. I build Skycam3's larger bumper/lightbar so check that out if you wanna see the quality of my work. I also got some other pictures of my standard light bars I make for the other 2nd gen tacomas as well.

I am looking for someone who can leave there truck at my shop (house) for a day so I can build my templates and do my CADD work to start making these things. In return you will get the first one I make free of charge (powder coating not included).

Just to give a few stats on what I am looking to build. All plate work will be 1/4" laser cut mild steel plate. The tubing will be 1.5" x 0.120 wall mild steel tubing. Looking to have tabbing for four(4) hello 700ff lights as those are what most people run. This will be tight as the grills are a little smaller on these trucks, and I don't like to have the tubing hanging out past the edge of the grill. But this will all be figured out once I get my hands o na truck and start building. They will be 100% bolt on and will come powder coated a semi-gloss black when done. I will sell raw as an option as well in case you guys want to color match or do a different color. Also all hardware will be included in the price. Right now I am shooting for a price of $140 plus shipping, but that is not firm. I will have to see what laser cutting and braking will cost me on these as know they will be a little more complicated than the 05-11 models.

I am located in Tehachapi, CA 93561. I am near Backersfield or Palmdale/Lancaster. About 2 hours north of downtown LA.

Please let me know if you wanna be a doner truck, or if you are interested in purchasing one of these once I get them going. As soon as I get one designed I plan on moving as quick as I can in cranking a group of these out. Please keep in mind I am full time Air Force, so I am not as quick as the full time fab guys. But what I lack in full time I make up for in price and quality.

Few pictures of my other light bars:

    UPDATE on the N-Fab version:

I've been talking to Lance at NFab through the ordering process. The bar I received was the first production example sent out to a customer. The lightbar was supposed to have the mounting tabs on the rear as I was describing previously and somehow the mistake was made in their production department to mount the tabs on the front. They are going to fix the error and start producing the new correct ones within a week or two. I'll get a call slip from them to return this one and they will be shipping the new one back to me asap...

So we'll see how it goes.

With that bar you're really limited to what lights you can use. I'd like to see that horizontal mount bar about 4" higher so the back of your lights fit into the grill area.

I will buy two the day it comes out...

I bet the reason for the outer tabs is to install a deeper light. With the tabs in the rear you're limited to Hella 500 style only...

I like the four light mounts instead of the three. I would like to see that horizontal bar higher though. It needs to be level with the top of the bumper.

Unless you are planning to run something like a Lightforce or something with an internal hid ballast, I think most lights should fit. I believe the NFab bar does have some fore/aft adjustability, not sure how much though.

The Lightforce 140/170/240 need 2 inches of clearance rearward of the mounting point.

As far as the height goes though, I can measure the distance from the ground to the mounting tabs as a reference point to compare with other options.

Although this would be a side benefit, I confirmed that the designer of the bar had definitely intended the tabs to be on the rear.

And Hella isn't the only company that makes slim style lights. What lights were you planning to run?

I have a set of 700FF's ready to install, but I had some PIAA 540's on my previous truck and I remember those lights to be fairly shallow as well.

Some teasers of one I am completing. Will fit 4 Hella 700's or equivalent slim style lights. This is a ruff sample of one I made for fitment testing. Will have some test lights on there this week and will post pictures of it on an actual truck with lights on it. Also building another style one for larger HID style lights. Hopefully pictures up by Tuesday. Let me know what you guys think.

Nice from what I can tell, I guess its all going to come together when you can see it mounted with lights on the truck... I am still awaiting word from NFab about mine being built and shipped.

I don't think NFab has started shipping to their vendors yet.

Hell, as far as I know, they haven't even started production on the "correct" version of the lightbar yet...

I keep getting led on like they care, but no action to back it up ever materializes. They were supposed to send a call slip a week ago to get the one I have returned back to them. Lance keeps telling me that "our production department says they are starting on these tomorrow/next week/after the holidays..." Apparently there is a huge disconnect btw customer service and the production floor. Any correspondence has been from me calling or emailing them, not from them giving me any kind of update on what has now become a three month ordeal, waiting for a product that I was told was ready to ship before I even ordered it.

UGH... THIS IS NOT WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR :(

I have 2 LED 3600LM lights that are sitting in the garage collecting dust and all I am getting is lip service and promissory emails saying soon, soon soon

I have spoken to the sales manager, Mark, at N-fab. The information I was told today is there there are over a dozen bars cut out. These are going into welding today; powdercoating at the end of the week, early next week; and hopefully shipping by the end of next week.

    That's good to hear.

But, I've been hearing things like that since mid-April when I ordered mine.

By the way, I have an email from NFab on 4/6/12 stating that the lightbar for the '12 was available and ready to ship. I ordered one soon after that and mine didnt ship until over a month later...
