Kenwood headunit, 4 kicker 5x7 coaxials,2 memphis 1.5" tweeters, 2 12" memphis subwoofers, memphis 500w amp, chrome grille guard, kc fog lamps, chrome side steps, chrome tool box, and window visors
I'm looking for more bump out of my system. I would like for it to hit harder and beat better. I have a kenwood excelon, 4 kicker coaxials all around 2 memphis street reference 12" subs with a memphis sr 500w amp. Dont get me wrong, they are great speakers, but I feel like I could upgrade my subs. I was thinking I could sell my subs and box locally for a good bit. like new condition. take whatever I make off of the subs and save a couple of paychecks and get a 10" memphis reference. Ive been told its a higher quality sub than both of my 12s :notsure: and with a 10" I could fit it into the jump seat cubby hole.
Im just curious if anybody has a cheaper and/or better idea to fit my wants?

Are your subs using the recommended cubic feet for air space?

Under no circumstance will a single 10" EVER "hit harder and beat better" than a pair of 12s. The 12s simply have too much cone area and the 10" simply can't make that up. Even a 10W7 and it's ridiculous amount of excursion can't get louder than a pair of 12s.

He's asking of the enclosures are the correct size. Putting them in an enclosure that's too small will greatly restrict their output and low end capability.

Your best bet is to optimize the 12s you have. I promise you that once you figure out why you're not happy with the setup and correct the issue you'll have more bass than you know what to do with.

Well the box amp and subs come together as a package. Memphis bass package. So i assume it all matches up like its supposed to.

You'd think. If you're up for some learning, download WinISD, enter the sub's parameters and see what an optimum enclosure really is. I LOVE JL subs but their Stealthboxes are almost always too small.

I'm running two 12" shallow mount mb quart (300w rms) with a 1500w mb quart amp and it slams pretty hard. It will rattle the cabinets and widows in my house when I'm messing with it outside. The bass is nice and deep!

Sounds like this thread is about jacking off in a closet or something.

The difference between 500 and 1000 Watts will be very minimal. Under ideal circumstances you'd see a 3dB gain which is barely noticable.

I'd need to know the enclosure volume, port length, and port diameter before I could even begin to tell you anything about it.

Alpine Type-R shallow mount subs.. I got a 12, hits like a beast, paid $250 for it, and use a PDX-M6 alpine amp to drive it. .60ft of air space with 3/4lb of polyfill. Sounds amazing.

There's this Guy that always comes through my work he works at a local audio store. He had 4 Memphis 12s(don't remember model). It was loud! All these extra batteries and capacitors thousands of dollars! Well he sold it all decided to go a different route. Bought a single Rockford fosgate t1 like me in what I believe was the superbass box(have to look downstairs cause I have one). His new system is almost! Just as loud... so my suggestion buy a t1 and a get a new amp

Everyone's going to have their own opinions and are very biased. I'm sure whatever you buy as long as you spend some good money on a sub/subs and a certified amp you'll be happy

    That would be me.

You'd want to listen to that? Kicker did a first gen square solo that did 150. Big deal. He wants loud and for it not to sound like a bag of ass doing it. If all he wants is a one note wonder I could do that for him with the suns he has and 300 Watts and he'd be damn near 170, but he'd never turn it on because of how bad it sounded.

    Go troll somewhere else.
