I ALWAYS get GAP insurance, saved my ass once already, wont buy a car without it again.

 

Gap is a good call if you're buried in our car for sure. I have used it a few times. Only key is to keep all your shit together, the gap companies make you go thur some serious loops to get paid and you're on the hook for the monthly payment until they pay up, can take months

 

waste of money, especially with a Tacoma. The resale values are too high.

I would only contemplate it if i was buying new, and putting zero down.

 

First time i had it was on a used saturn i bought as a first car, it was totaled in an accident and the gap insurance covered the additional $4k that wasnt paid off by the insurance. Made a believer out of me no matter what type of vehicle is covered.

 

Well that's the whole point, you don't get it for a used car. It basically covers the instant depreciation of driving a new car off the lot making you owe more than the car is worth unless you put about 20% down.

 

Actually, with the insane interest rates for used cars, they are good to have GAP on, the saturn i mentioned was my 1st car and i was CRAZY upside down when they totalled it, thats when the GAP came in and covered the dfference.
