I dont know whether to be pissed or glad . it looked pretty superficial to me, more like a splash guard

coulda, shoulda, woulda. maybe I should take my mudflaps off as a preventative measure.

as far as my attitude about it, in my last vehicle, the stereo was stolen from it like 4 times. then when the vehicle was finally stolen, and taken for a joyride, I said screw it. you've lived your life.

vehicle was a '95 ext cab hardbody. had it since '97, and it got stolen in '10. I abused that truck, and it kept on kicking. I miss that reliability. hopefully this tacoma does the same.

I'd recommend taking the front mud flaps off at the very least anyway.

They hang too low and are too rigid and eventually they will begin to tear off... and if you're lucky, scratch up the side of your vehicle as you're riding down the highway because they've decided to come lose.

On my last 2005 I lost both of the fronts within the span of about month, probably about 30-40K miles into the life of the truck. When I bought my 2012, I was a bit surprised they hadn't improved on the design, and literally removed them with 24 hours of owning the truck.

Not sure if the rear ones are a problem...they seemed to hold up on my 2005, but the front flaps are a poor design IMO. I'd recommend removing/replacing them. I've seen folks have pretty good luck selling them here as well, so you can could make a little extra money if don't want to keep em. Just my 2¢.

    I'm wondering that myself.

Who the hell goes around and steals stock skid plates? Like the OP said, they're really just splash guards. Probably won't fetch much $$$.

No clue why a skid would just fall off on a new 2012 tho... I beat the hell out of mine on my '09, for some reason they're still on the truck (but not for long!)
