I did, I have a buyer in CO and the plan is to bring it with me when I'm out in the CO/WY area in July & August. I think I'll have the tire carrier available sometime soon.

Great job man! Tuck looks ready for some trails!

You plan on doing anything with the holes the flares created? Maybe fill with bondo? Always been something I wish Toyota didn't do haha

Get out and flex that beast!!

Why not just move the tire carrier closer to the cab? or build off of it?

The holes don't bother me too much really. Hell, might even trim that far? :notsure: I dunno.

I think placing the tire carrier farther forward would make storage options more difficult or awkward. Trying to keep it as far back as possible.

Sounds like a plan to me! :D Any specific dates?

How does the tire carrier mount to the bed? Drill holes, bolt 'er down?

Just name the date and I'll make sure request off from work for it. Doesn't matter if it's the middle of the week for me.

Yup! Uses 8 grade 8 bolts, a bit of overkill, IMO.

I'm in Waukesha, so I guess I'd just take 43 and 90/39 down through Rockford.

ETA about 2 1/2 hour drive to where you're at, nothing terrible.

Probably not for awhile. :( It's still my DD for now and I want to put a D60/14B underneath so I'll need to pay this thing off and get another taco as a DD and use it to pull this one around as it will probably become a dedicated trail rig.

Why not integrate the tire carrier into the shocks since you plan on coming through the bed anyway? You'd have to tie it in so the weight is obviously not on your bed. But could still be cool

Part of the reason I wanted to change the whole thing is because I want to try and tie in some sort of storage as part of the design, and I wanted to copy jberry's cage and have a removable rack.

Sounds good, let me know which one you guys decide on. Hopefully I'd be able to ask off from work on the 7th, but the 14th would be more likely.

Gonna try to have the re-gear done in a few weeks before I go to the WY meet. Been taking so much time off of work (on my way to NY for a family reunion as I write) I don't think I'll have the cash to get a diff lock before then. I'll still get one in the next several months and I know it'll cost a little more in the long run, but the MPG with 35"s on stock gears is ridiculous.

The guy that will be doing the re-gear suggested I have them cryo treated as well. From what I read, it sounds like a good idea so I think I'll go with it. I might ask him about cryo treating the cv shafts/joints as well.

Don't worry about the cryo on the CV's. You WANT them to break. You don't want a RP to break!

It can't hurt if done by a reputable company... (like these guys: http://www.cryogenicsinternational.com/) but with the 35s, I really think the CVs will be ther first to go anyway. Personally, I would not cyro treat my CVs because SupraTT is right, you want them to break before the r&p or the spyders, and also, I bet you'll snap a few down the road anyway! I just comes with running 35s on IFS.... and cryo treating all your CVs could get expensive.

I think that if you do decide to cryo treat the CVs, then you should definatey cryo the new gears and your spyder/side gears! If you neglect those spyders with your currently open front end, they will be the first to go for sure...

Good point about the CVs, guess I'll pass on that. Is there anything else that should be considered for cryo other than the gears?
