I have been dragging my truck across huge ass rocks for a few years now and I will say from much exp....I have seen 10 fold the amount of trouble from people crossing water, alt. , wheel bearings, starters, ppulleys diff seals, just to name a few.......
Only damamge I have seen from slowly draging truck across rocks is some small dents , exhaush dents - tips, and scratches........
I think most who wheel will agree

Rocks or mud / water ill take rocks all day long

see my build in other forum for links to where I got them and pricing

    I'm sure it does.

I have been doing a ton of research regarding snorkel intakes and dust. From what I have found even turning the air ram around on the highway is bad - per Safari. They also frown upon screen over it.

The mesh Craig has on his snorkel has super small holes. I would bet he blocked at least 60% of the surface area of the air ram with the mesh he has on his. The snorkel will not filter the water out it does get in because the cyclone effect is lost when you block the air. Just something for all to consider.

All I'm saying is I wouldn't sell them to people before considering all the issues that could arise from using one.

    http://www.lets-getaway.com/snorkels-waterbras-diffbreathers.htm

The Safari snorkel air ram can be rotated to prevent dust ingress, say when travelling in a 4WD tag along tour or convoy, as well as when driving in heavy rain and snow. The air ram should be rotated back to the forward position for normal driving as having it rotated backward can reduce performance.

Safari Snorkel 7” or 10” Pre-Cleaner replaces the air ram head on Safari Snorkels and as air enters the round clear perspex chamber the dust particles are separated by centrifugal force. The dirt then settles in the bottom of the outside chamber before it reaches your air filter.
Some 4WD enthusiasts have tried the Donaldson pre-cleaner air filter on their vehicle snorkels but the pre-cleaner works best at low speeds (say under 40 km ph) and is not suitable for highway driving so you would need to swap the ram when reaching higher speed as engine efficiency will suffer.

Uni Filter Australia supply a one size fits all Snorkel Ram Head Cover which they state provides a locust barrier and additional protection when in a 4WD convoy. Uni Filter also supply a “Droopie” Snorkel Pre-Cleaner, a sock like sleeve that drops down from ram inside the snorkel, which they state does not affect air flow and removes 90% of dust before it reaches the main filter. However, the Snorkel Pre Cleaner Service Instruction on their website contains the ‘Warning: Unifilter’s snorkel pre-cleaners are not suitable for highway use. We recommend use only in dusty conditions”. If your vehicle is a turbo diesel talk to a specialist before using these as they are coated in oil to collect the dust and the oil sucked into the turbo may cause problems.

Kayaking some SNJ rivers Sunday morning. 4-6hr trip. If you have a yak and want to tag along feel free. This place isn't near any rental companies so if you need to rent do it before hand. Should be leaving around 10am. I might have 1 extra yak....but I'm not sure just yet.

A member on here posted a link from Fayetteville NC Craigslist a couple of weeks ago that had a used Toytec ULK, SPC UCA's and Dakar leaf springs for sale. He was asking $1000 for everything.

So I decided to commit to this and drove down to NC from NJ, it took me about 18 hours round trip of driving!!!! I'm very happy with everything as the seller was in the military and moving to Washington state so he removed the lift as he will be driving his Tacoma cross country. He purchased everything new in October 2011 and didn't install it until January 2012 so he figured it probably had a few thousand miles on it. He even included all the original boxes everything came in.

I felt it was definitely worth the drive as I figured the drive cost me about $150 in gas and tolls. I gave him the full $1000 he was asking so that way he would hold it for me when I got down there. So I'm into it about $1150, but he gave me the receipts for everything which totaled over $2000.

Now my question is, does anyone suggest that I buy anything else before attempting to install the lift? I currently have:
    - Toytec ULK
    - SPC UCA
    - Dakar rear leaf springs

Should I get any SS extended brake lines or U bolt flip kit? Maybe the shims for the "taco lean" Any information that anyone has that may have this setup would be appreciated!

The most exciting thing about this is I can finally get rid of the POS spacer lift! Now just to find time to install it. Hopefully I'll be capable for the install!!

It came with all I those items mentioned. Thanks for the input though. How long did it take you to install everything and did you do it yourself?

Thanks I appreciate that, I might take you up on that offer. Just not sure when I'm gonna do it. I have a question for you, have you done the locker mod? I have all the parts I'm just a little confused and am looking for some help

That would be good, unfortunately my only days off right now are Tuesday and Wednesday. I work doubles on the weekend so I don't have any time then. If Tuesday or Wednesday would work let me know and we could maybe try just the anytime locker mod.

I have the extended u bolts already but
I'm thinking about just buying the flip kit and installing it from the start instead of wanting to do it later.

As I mention in the post above my only days off are Tuesday and Wednesday. Weekends I work both of my jobs so I don't have much time. If any of those days work let me know because I really want to get the locker mod done
