Hey guys i have a 2001 Tacoma with a 3.4L v6 and I'm wondering if there is a way to enhance the sound of it without replacing the whole exhaust system.

    Thanks

    P.S. Its the stock exhaust.

Just change the muffler out. Pretty cheap to do it too. Most people on here have the 14" magnaflow muffler or flowmaster 40 or 44s. Theres one for sale in the buy/sell/trade for $40. I have a 40 series, it sounds great

I know you said you didn't want to swap out the whole exhaust. Why not? It's not hard to un-bolt the stock exhaust and bolt-on a new cat-back. I have the Borla on my 2002 3.4L V6 and it sounds great!

Engine swap. Regardless of how great they are, 1st gen engines all sound like shit with exhausts.

When I bought my truck it had a glasspack on it and annoyed the shit out of me, so I replaced it with a "turbo" muffler from advanced auto and actually gained 2.5 mpg. It still sounds pretty good but isn't like a weed eater. My truck is a 2.7 though so don't know how that will effect your v6.

Flowmaster 50 series will give you more sound, but not as much as the 40 series. I got the 50 because I didn't want it to be too loud. There is cab noise but you will get used to it. sounds best at and under 2000 rpm. It sounds best behind it too, very deep rumble at low rpm.
If you go with the 40 expect cab noise that you may find annoying at some point.

thats just a video i found. its not mine. and OP wants to enhance the sound of the exhaust without changing too much stuff so i was telling him a muffler is the easiest way. of course if i had the money i would get an awesome sounding full exhaust system, but im college kid so i dont...
