I used to do that also, just left it in gear. Then one of my friends had his transmission destroyed when someone rear-ended him. Now I use the park break, and leave it in neutral.

WOW. When it rains it pours. That sucks man. I'd just carry a baseball bat around with me and if I came across someone with silver on their car that matches your truck...i'd wait til they came out and then beat the fool outta their vehicle. It's prolly a P.O.S. and they woudn't care anyway though...

No, that's one hit, they may have to replace that one panel. Any signs of stress on the other side?

He was hit on the rear bumper and the bed crumpled all the way up by the gas filler, that's why I think they hit him pretty hard.

I've always used mine for that reason. And I've gotten into such a habit of it that when I drive my girlfriend's car or if I happen to drive my mom's Highlander for anything, I use the parkin brake. Neither of them know why they don't go anywhere when they get back into their cars.

thanks all. I've been researching new bumpers. I really hope that Toyota wants $1500 plus for the OEM bumper. I will get the body work done at one of the dealers here, but I'm looking into the Kennesaw bumper that silver07taco has.

Yes, that really was some dumb ass confusing their brake pedal for the gas and slamming into my baby pretty hard. The bumper pushed into the rear panel causing it to buckle like that. I'm imagining that they'll have to take off the truck bed and weld on a new panel.

The reality is that I live in New Orleans and, there is no chance that I will ever find the fucker that did this. I know nothing about their vehicle and I know that they didn't scrape any paint off of my truck.

I may start using my e-brake, but I'll just be pissed that I have to use it because so many people are irresponsible numb nuts.

I know its a hard habit to brake, even on the flattest of all surfaces i still put the e-brake on, luckily if my dad drives off with it engaged on his sequoia it beeps like crazy
