oh my god thats terrible.. what a hit.. was it hard enough to bend the side of the truck too, or is the bumper and the side two separate hits?

Sorry to hear about the pegging of your truck.

If it helps you can watch one guy one jar and pretend it's them doing it.

I feel your pain.....I would be extremely pissed just like you are. Too bad this didn't happen in a Wal-Mart parking lot, they have a camera on every light post in the parking lots, here they do anyways.

Thanks everybody. The more I think about it, the angrier I get that some asshat slammed into my truck.

I checked it out and it looks like the bedside panel is just bolted on. To avoid the deductible, I'm going to do the work myself.

    Rear left panel - $588
    Bumper - $436
    Bumper Plastic Cap - $137

    Paint left panel - $280

    Total - $1441

I'm hoping labor would have been another $1000+ so I should break even with a weekend's amount of labor.

I'm looking into getting a heavy duty steel bumper that will make someone cry if they bump into my truck. I'd like to keep my tow hitch so that I can use a trailer occasionally. Any recommendations?

Mine got backed into in a parking lot. I was in the travel lane, but on the wrong side pulling into a space. A lady in a Nissian Sentra backed out of a parking place into me. It was my fault according to everyone. My point is that she hit me in about the same place. My damage was not noticeable without looking in just the right light. My insurance said it was cloase to $800 in damages for my truck. Her car had $600.

My point is that a little car can make a lot of damage... it was probally some 16 year old driving around in their brand new german car.

Toyota all weather floor mats. Mag light that clunks around in the jack compartment. Dog hair. Dog drool on the windows.
Was it a mall? Check with security.

it was a strip mall. They didn't have security. I checked the walls, roofs, and light polls all around the parking lot and there was nothing.

Hey Rob-you better make sure that truck is tracking right after a hard hit like this. Wow! Gotta be alcohol. How the hell else could you manage to smack a vehicle as big as that truck? The brighter side is that the weak bumper and the rear quarter seemed to have absorbed the major impact-if the bumper were stronger-that kind of hit may have tweeked the frame:eek:

Bummer about the truck! Fortunately those bedsides come off pretty easily so you'll have no problems replacing the parts once you get new stuff.

    And you suck. :D
