Went to the dealer today asking for these $40 "hockey pucks" and they looked at me like I was an idiot. Is there a part number for this. I would think if its a fix from Toyota it should have some kind of number assigned to it. Please help Tunafish!

glad I saw this at the top.. Haven't been on in months and now I have two weird noises coming from my truck. This takes care of the squeak.

Finally got the parts and did the swap of the pads.

Had to use some wd40 to squeeze the new pads in.

The new ones are really beefy as you can see!

It's a kit of 4. Two for each leaf spring.

FYI to all: DON'T WAIT! You're extended (even) platinum warranty does not cover the squeaky leaf springs. Tried it already. You can only get them replaced within 3yrs or 36K miles and only if you bitch, complain and make the DEALER do it. The good thing is, the newest fix are a pack a heavy duty Toyota spacers which sell for only $40 for a 4 pack at the dealer. It's it real dense tuff rubber. My old ones were 1/16 piece of metal left. LOL
Note to all: Complain and get if fixed under the manufactures warranty even if you don't have aa squeak yet, lie OR PAY OUT OF YOUR POCKET LATER WHEN THEY KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS ALREADY.

Just got confirmation that mine is under the warranty and will be fixed.

I had them lube the leafs at 16,000 kms, and I just got my 32k kms service done, and they've ordered the parts for me.

What dealership are you using that is covering this under warranty and is it a Toyota extended warranty. What state are you in?

As I mentioned Toyota Extended Warranty did not cover my repair in my V6 TRD 4x4 Sport w/platinum Toyota ext warranty. I would like to know what I'm talking about or if they decided to start covering/fixing this problem so I'm giving the right information out to others.

I wonder if your dealer is stating that you're truck is bottoming out which is a problem I never had with the TRD/stiffer springs. (I personally would not want stiffer leaf springs in my trd sport; I like the ride the way it is and is stiff enough. If that is how your dealer is getting around to fixing the squeak (under ext war) it would be nice to know. In your case your getting the springs and the newest fix which is a $40 4 pack of heavy duty rubber grommets. That is a suspension problem if your bottoming out, which I would assume the dealer/warranty would have to cover under an extended warranty. Thanks for any updates.

Note: I returned my first Toy crew cab "TRD" Tacoma after driving only 16 miles (new). It was absolutely horrible on a bumpy road (moderate speed) with bumps in it it. The truck was sideways and tires were churping/wasting rubber and I could picture losing control on this same road if it was wet. I returned it and bought the regular SR5 which is what I initially wanted but none in stock. SR5 has much nicer/safer ride for 1st gen Tacoma's. I loved that truck and only bought the 05 becuase I was able to sell it for the cost of regular car payments after owning 03 model for just 2 years. Almost impossible to do this with any other vehicle. They hold their value!

Just picked up the pads from the dealership last week and installed them over the weekend. It was really easy to take out the old pads and put in the new ones. I am so glad that I don't have to deal with the squeaky noise anymore!

I've got an '09 TRD and noticed a horrid squeak from the rear end, started about a week ago. I'm guessing this is the problem.

Question is, I bought the truck used from a Toyota dealer and it came with the Toyota Certified package, which I didn't know has a $50.00 deductible.

Is this squeak covered for free? I'm still learning my way around here, its my 1st Taco. Or do I need to fork out money for this?

If these are $40.00 and I have a to pay a $50.00 deductible, will the dealer just sell me these and I do it myself?
