Find out what invoice is on a particular model and offer 1 - 1.5% over that ... the last three purchases (2 Tacomas and an Accord) I have gone in with this figure on a piece of paper ... didn't discuss price with salesman at all ... after I settled on the truck/car ... told them to write the rock bottom they would send it out the door ... slide scraps of paper over the desk to one another ... all three times were were within $100 ... twice I walked away with less than I wrote (Tacomas) ... the Accord was $65 more.

Dealer cost on that truck is about 29,000 (depending on options). Go to Truecar and build your truck. Should be able to buy it for Dealer Cost plus 4-500.00. NEVER pay MSRP.

I paid $300.00 below invoice! So try and find out the invoice price there is a site to search that I just don't know what it is and go from there. The key is don't be afraid to walk out. There are other dealers.

Build whatever truck your looking at option for option on truecar.com and edmunds.com and it will give you what you need to know. The dealers all local to me wanted $500 over invoice. I ended up making my deal over the phone. Had to drive a little bit but I just got mine yesterday for $300 under invoice.

Best course of action is to email 2-3 different dealerships, tell them what you want, and let them compete for your business. I paid invoice on my last two vehicles this way.

NWtacoma, I bought my '12 from Doxon March 31. What I paid (including destination and addition of alarm) was just under the MSRP not including destination.

You should go in and bid a couple hundred lower than the consumer reports bottom price. It won't get approved, and the counter bid will be somewhere above the invoice price. Then give your final offer slightly lower than the invoice price and hopefully arrive at the invoice price for the deal. You got to what the hell your talking about though with all of the regional option packages that are related with Toyotas . They may be less inclined to budge as well since the 2013 prices are already out and there will be a price increase.

so are you guys paying the dealer invoice, or the actual invoice? when i bought my '12, what the dealer claimed as the invoice price basicly split the MSRP and the invoice price published by various consumer sites and mags. I paid roughly the invoice price I found from several other consumer sources, and after the addition of an alarm and destination charge it came out right about the dealer's original (claimed) invoice.

The dealer will flat out lie and make it seem like there is no such thing as a 'dealer invoice'. They will gladly show you the actual invoice price though. As another person posted, 500 less than the actual invoice is ideal, so you would need to start lower.

The two NJ dealers I dealt with here for the Rav and Tacoma were very much shocked that I asked for a price lower than the standard 'sticker discount' and incentive discount.

I already posted this question in the "what did you pay for your 2012?" thread but I'll post my question in here. I had the local dealer find me a silver streak mica auto DCSB TRD OR 4x4 with Entune. Because this truck wasn't just sitting on their lot, how much room do I have to haggle if any? The trucks MSRP is $34,500 and has every option. The financing has already been taken care of and it's the end of the month. Thanks

I just signed yesterday on a '12 Access Cab TRD Sport 2x4 with ONLY towing, daytime running lights, and upgrade stereo. None of the other stupid addons like floormats and toyoguard. They were trying to hijack this truck before it got to the dealer, straight from southeast toyota.... I basicaly picked the EXACT truck i wanted and they made it happen. I held out for 300 under invoice, including dealer fee.

Or so I thought. Today I get a call and the other dealer won't let them take my truck. Now they are finding me another.... I told them if it's more than a few days extra they are gonna lose my deal or have to give me one with some of the stupid addons. Hanging in limbo now... :(

Good luck man. The truck my dealer found is still at some other dealer so it could happen to me as well.
