my tail lights are duct-taped on.

With fiberglass bedsides it's hard to get the tail lights to fit in perfectly, which means it's not as secured.

The tail light mounts are plastic on the taillight, so even if they are bolted in correctly, bouncing around will literally sheer off the plastic mounts on the lights themselves.

Im on my third set of tail lights and my options are:
- take off the tail lights everytime I hit dirt
- duct tape them on permanently.

My have yet to fall off with the clear duct tape for almost a year now

 

Lowes sells clear duct tape.

Im not sure how you can strengthen the mounts as they are plastic and formed with the tail light housing.

Only way I see him coming up with something is to plastic weld more mounts on the tail light or drill and tap more holes to bolt on to.

Engage told me a long time ago that some people straight up fiberglass the tail lights into the bedsides.

 

why use duct tape? everyone i know drills the holes and zip ties there lights on with the fat ones. ive ran that set up since i caged my rear end at the beginning of last season. beat the shit out of my truck and my lights never came close to coming off. and yeah when u say fiberglass it in, some people use bondo to hold there shit in, its a life saver when u crack ur glass up. use tape to hold lights on haha, i would seriously use a few zip ties and i bet ull never lose your tail lights again

 

Option 3, glass over the area and install new smaller lights in the area. Seen it done on a white 2nd gen here, forget the member.

 

Zip ties on lights haha. Why not use metal? I strap mine from the backside
