Mickey Thompson Baja STZ Tires

Anyone running these? I found them for about 650 shipped for 265/75/16's, and with a $50 gift card, they are 600 for the set delivered. Seems like a good deal?
Any feedback greatly appreciated...

Seems like a new tire- searched and found little info on these. Not even listed in the tire sticky. Found one thread a guy said he could not get them to balance? They are made by Cooper I believe. Look a lot like the Hankook DynaPro ATMs?

Look like a knock off of the Zeon. (And as you said cooper owns Mickey Thompson so makes sense they're similar.)

I'd rock them if I needed a less aggressive tire. The variation in the lugs will keep road noise down a lot and they're a good looking tire.

Cooper doesn't own Mickey. Most of their production is done by Cooper.

 

I always felt you were paying more for a tire that has the Mickey Thompson name on it, and not always with a higher quality product? Yes, I heard they were made by Cooper Tires.

 

I've been looking at the Mickey Thompson ATZ as my next tire. Have you seen those? Little more aggressive than the stz. Mix between mud and all terrain.

 

I ran 33x12.50 ATZs on my 07. They were good in the mud and above average on the road for how aggressive they were. I traded it in with a little over 80k on it and the tires weren't down to the wear bars yet. Here's a picture of them when they hit 80k

 

I wonder why they give no mile warranty with this tire? I was set on the Goodyear Wranglers if I was going to spend $200 a tire, but have been shopping for awhile and always looked to see if I could get a good tire for less. At $150 ea is seems like a tire to consider. This truck deals with wet pavements, boat ramps and sandy conditions.

I've had my MTZs for at least 50K kms and they're not even half down yet.

 

Ok guys, lets open this up for suggestions. I was set on going with the old stand by BFG's AT's, or the Goodyear Duratracs. I was actually leaning torwards the Duratracs for a change. Size 265/75R/16's. Both these tires would be hard to find below $200 ea. But in my casual searches for tires for the last 6 months, mainly the many different tires we all run here, I keep going back to the two above in the end. Until now. These Mickey's are $601 shipped to door, minus the $50 gift card, so they come out to $138 per tire. IMO, the profile is simular to the BFG's, but the tread pattern seems a tad more agressive. Anyone feel at this price there is a better tire in this "AT" catagory?
Give me some feedback... deal ends soon.
My Concerns- No expressed mile warranty, Never seen one in person, or mounted on a truck, not a lot of feedback on line with this tire.

 

I'd go for it. Honestly, here there are so many people running Mickeys with nothing but good things to say about them. I honestly don't think you can go wrong. Additionally, you'll also be rocking a unique tire which is always a nice little stand alone on it's own.

 

Probably right- Mickeys do seem to have a loyal following and a great reputation it seems, and they are made by Cooper Tires. Should be pretty solid, and like you mentioned it fits my user profile.

 

Looking at buying the exact same tire. Did you buy them and if so how do you like them?

 

Just bought a set 265/70-16..... the reviews on other sites seemed favorable for the use I'd get from them! Any feedback appreciated!

One tire out of four could not be balanced correctly so I've dealt with the shimmy and shake on road!

Off road: These things are a beast in snow/ice and mud but struggle thru the NJ clay (As would any off road tire I suspect)

 

I had that size and brand on my Suburban.

They ran smooth and quiet. Not much for off road but on street they were fine.

I found them for $75 each on Amazon about a year ago.

You have to watch Amazon all the time. Deals on tires pop up from time to time. But they may not always be the brand you want, you just have to settle for the size and approximate tread pattern.
