I noticed all the gun stores in California have had a run on guns and ammo right before Obama came into office.

Seems folks are scared he's gonna take away their guns.

So now, I can't get any ammo here. It's all bought out.

    HOW BOUT YOU?

Check Wal Mart. They usually have some in my area.
Depends on caliber though. Some people have reported 9mm is very hard to come by. Out here 45 has been hard to come by as well as 223 rounds.
I've had to buy online recently to get a good deal.
No worries on shotgun. Plenty of that to go round.

1.2 million requests for background checks in like the past 90 days. The fearmongering is working- Tons of folks are trying to buy guns just to have one....

IDK- The Asian guy who killed those 13 people in NY was worried about the same thing and look where it lead him...Some folks should not have guns.

Having a gun just to have one will put guns in peoples hands who don't respect them or who don't have the temperament...I don't want someone who bought this nice looking mother of pearl handled whatever and has no idea what he/she is doing to force my hand in a UoF situation...

That being said- I just found out I'm going to be moving my family to New Orleans- my wife and I will be spending some time at the shooting range....

Definately been a run on ammo here in the Bay Area. My local shop always has ammo just not the cheapest place to get it, I've noticed places like big 5 always seems to have cheap 9mm & .40 and even decent quality ammo on sale. I picked up 300 rounds of winchester 165 grain target ammo for my .40 and was out the door with tax for $118 I'm pretty happy about the price but haven't shot it yet, so we'll see.

Yup, ammo (and also some reloading components, especially primers) in virtually all of the 'popular' calibers has disappeared from most store shelves. Well, not quite......22 rimfire is generally available in most places, as are shotshells, but centerfire rifle and pistol ammo, except in oddball rounds (416 Rigby, anyone?), is real hard-to-come-by in "bulk" or inexpensive practice format.

What I've noticed around here is that it shows up and then disappears in short order, so a guy has to be in the right place at the right time. If you're looking for ammo, probably the best bet is to just stop into your local store or shop fairly often, every couple of days if you can, and hope you catch a break. I scored six boxes of 9mm jut the other day that way.

2 different walmarts this weekend and I could not find ANY ammo for .38, .40, .45, or .357 cal. Have yall seen the poster in the gun stores with Obama's picture and under it, it says "Firearm salesman of the year." LOL

The local Bi-Mart is out of pretty much everything but obscure calibers. They do have a bunch of 12/20 gauge target loads, and some 17 hmr. Haven't checked at Walmart...but not really in the market for ammo.

I went into Dick's Sporting goods tonight and they had .223 at 9.98 a box if you bought a case of 10. They had plenty. I imagine it won't last long. I didn't buy much, as I got plenty. :)

They had .308 as well tonight. First time in a while. Last week they had 40 cal, but not today.
