Just purchased a 2009 tacoma and a friend in the electronic business installed sirius radio. We had to use the little antenna that came with the receiver, not the one on the truck (I am bumbed), because the wiring harness connector would not fit the antenna on the truck. Anyone know if a connector is made to mate the toyota antenna with with the sirius wiring. Toyota is truly behind the times by not supplying a truck with XM or Sirius.

I put in Sirius receiver not XM and the antenna will not connect with sirius wiring. Should have put in XM and used the antenna on the truck.

The dealer ask if I wanted Sirius/XM. I said "no" I want to have the option to take the receiver out to use in the garage or house. To have these options you must have it installed with another antenna. The gek squad said the Toyota antenna is not compatible to the Sirius/Xm receivers. I enjoy my setup even if it shows two antennas on the roof.

Thanks, my sirius works great and the text shows on the radio. I guess I will live with two antennas.

why would you do that? i spliced into the factory cable. i found it in the driver kick panel... cut it.. put the end off the pioneer xm cable on it.. soldered it and plugged it in to the pioneer xm box and it works perfect. I have used xm antennas on sirius and sirius antenna on xm. No need to be unhappy. here is what you do.

take drivers kick panels off...locate xm cable that goes to the plug...... cut it......splice new cable in.... make sure connections are good.......plug cable into unit.... be happy with factory antenna...

Check out the link. This is the adapter that I used to plug into the factory satellite antenna outlet in the driver's side kick panel. The adapter converts the connection to a standard satellite radio end which can be used on any XM or Sirius unit.

Hope this helps, mine works great!

I bought the cable that plugs into the factory harness. I use XM, but I connected a Sirius to check and see if it works. Yes it does.

I was too cheap to buy the cable for a while and I put the antenna that came with the unit on top. A couple of weeks ago I went for it and got the cable to connect to the factory antenna. I am glad I did. Not only does it look better but the radio picks up so much better. Since I have gone to the factory antenna, my radio has not cut out or faded once where it used to several times a day.

Good find. I've been looking for a cheaper cord.
