2012 Tacomas with old tail lights!

    I live in western mass, and I've seen a few 2012 Tacomas with pre '08 tail lights. I've seen 3 diff ones so far, what gives?

    I kind of prefer the old lights. LEDs have been having higher failure rates than expected (it's not the actual LED failing but the control circuits). At least with the old systems, you could easily swap out a bulb.

    They also don't have to stop to wipe snow off the lights since LED do not heat up like the bulbs do. Technology with one tiny flaw they missed; think traffic lights in winter. :thumbsup:

    Yup.

    Tunnel visors help, but the snow can still pile up. I've seen some visor designs that are supposed to work.
    Thankfully we don't have to worry about that in SoCal.

    +1 for old technology!

    I've actually heard about some traffic lights are becomming problematic in New England because of the new LEDs they put in. As mentioned before, they just don't get hot enough to melt the snow off.

    Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
    I like the look of the LED housings much better though, really goes well with my silver truck. Plus they are so much brighter, had zero problems with mine so far.
