For sure man, I will definitely bring my bow any time I head up north! and you the same, whenever your down south let me know and we can grab a brew or go shoot or something.

I am looking forward to the upcoming learning experiences I have!

    I am 24.

I would appreciate it if you would sent me the "secret" area your talking about. I wont tell anyone so your secret is safe with me buddy. I live out in Simi Valley which is in Ventura County. I have absolutely no problem hiking so hopefully I can find some remote locations that no one goes to and has an abundance of animals :) Black bears are fun! fast little bastards but most of the time you can scare them away... just gotta be smart with those guys!!

UPDATE: Should get my bow in this week hopefully! :headbang::yay::bananadance:

My dad and I made a bow stand outta PVC for when we shoot. Put 2 arrow holders on it and have the arms wrapped in foam so it doesnt harm the bow when we have them hung up. Cannot wait to start shooting!

I bought an old CSS bow of this site for a steal of a deal. It is straight up deadly at 40 yards now. I needed a whisker biscuit and a new release but other than that it was solid. I think it's possible to get into this sport for under 200 arrows and all. I haven't picked out my next bow yet but I found a pro shop I like. After a few kills I will upgrade to the best deal.

Yup. I am having a good time with it. I can't hit bullseye every time but I'm within a bowling ball area at 40 ish yards. That's close enough to kill. I am eagerly awaiting deer season.

Dido. Do em yourself. Just make sure u have the right cutting equipment. If u have a pro shop tho hell just have em do it for ya. It's convenient for me to have my buddy do it since he owns a shop. But I do all my own inserts.

I do this for one little minute reason. I screw a broad head into the into the insert and stick it in. Then line up the blades of the head with the fletching. Take a silver sharpie and make a mark on the insert and arrow, remove broad head from insert then glue it in lining up your marks.

Picky, I know, but I feel it gives that tad bit more straightness and accuracy.

What broad heads are you guys using? I have one walmart one my buddy gave me and a set of ram cats. I use the fixed blade with the mindset that they would perform better for both hogs and deer.

I use g5 t3. Mechanical. They are devistating. Multiple pigs. Leave great holes. Buddy shot a deer with em, thing ran no more then 40 yards and was done. But for fixed, I used to shot the g5 montec, but they came out with the g5 striker, same as montec just replaceable blades.

And u can never go wrong with muzzy.

But it comes down to shot placement. Double lung anythig, or heart, it's dead no matter what your using. Even a field tip.

Those ram cats are a SICK broadhead. I've always shot g5 Montec's or rage 2 blade. I'm gonna give the new rage chisel tip a try this season I've read alot of killer stuff about em. But to each is there own when it comes to broadheads. It's like a Chevy or a Ford thing.

    Or toyota... haha

but ya, mainly, see a few u like, try em out. as stated many-a-times in this thread, people tend to get very brand oriented, but i found thats mainly cuz what they have has worked for them. Try a few things, see what flys well FIRST and is CLOSE as possible to field tip, then field test it.
