Why did that tool box pull you over? Are we coming down to be like Cali. with the cops on our dirt roads now? Thats lame. Cops need to stick to the asphault.

I see a winch there! Some one should have gone for the snow bank.

    Any plans for another outing?

he pulled over drunken sloth because "he was to far in his (the cops) lane". He just checked his info and let him go. That snow was about 3-4 feet deep and thick with a very loooooonnng drop off on the other side. I tested out a bank like it but couldn't make it through and didn't want to just sink in.

Its all good. Just the alternator. Not a big deal to swap out, but no way I could've made it there so early.

You know I'm always game! So long as my girl doesn't think I'm neglecting her ;)

Next Friday or Saturday I'm FOR SURE rallying somewhere sick and camping with one of my buddies. As always with me- the more the merrier!! Haven't decided where, open to input if anyone's interested.

Would be sick if we could get some rigs in :D

There were a lot of people on the first bit of the trail and a lot of forest guys patrolling. Once we got deeper into the trail though I didn't see anymore. But I agree. They need to let up on the regulations on the trails.

Yeah once I got onto the snow bank I was just spinning my tires...

If we do later in the afternoon like 430 or 500 I'll be down for the 23rd. I can't afford to miss even more work this month. July I'll definitely be down though if I can find someone to cover my shift.

I did it a few years ago. Its a great view, but the trail isn't anything special. A civic could get up it no problem. Worth it if you've never seen it though.

Another thing we did earlier this year, which if you've never done before is well worth it, is to go see the visitors center in Kennecott, then when done, drive around the canyon and see if from the other side. I thought that was cooler than Inspiration point. Really easy trail through, but I'll give more details if interested.

Did you go up Butterfield canyon and end up looking down into the pit? Thats a nice little drive. When I was younger we would go camp up there.

A nice little drive not far from SLC is the little south fork of the weber river. It is inbetween Oakly and Smith and moorehouse. I would not take my stock truck up but if someone had a space in their truck I would guide people up there. Its been awhile since I have been up there so would need to check with the forest service it still open. I used to do it in my jeep with a 4 inch lift and 32" tires no problem. Here is a few photo's.

And yes the river is the road.

I'm interested. I've been to the visitor center a couple times over the years and I’m always very impressed with the mine. I've heard of these other spots you can see the mine but I've never been to any of them.

    Yep. Exactly.

Yes, I'm very interested in this type of trail. My favorite kind, where its not too hardcore, but still something the average person wouldn't do.

I do have a trail marked on my map that I have named South Fork Weber River. Wonder if its the same thing. It starts on Hwy 213 and follows the South Fork Weber River/Fork Canyon up.

It, along with a few other trails in the area, are on my list of things to do... If I could just find someone to do it with. ;) I probably have a dozen trails or more in that area east of Kamas.

If you can do gpx files, I've attached that for you. If not, its just up Butterfield Canyon Road. About half way, you'll see a parking area on the left and the road splits to the point you're uncertain which way you should go. Well, to the right (up the mountain), takes you to the overlook. To the left (down into the canyon) takes you out to Tooele.

Its mostly paved and well graded dirt road. Up towards the overlook is a bit more rough, but cars were getting up it pretty easy.
