I have the p0420 bank 1 code. Changed the 02 sensor code still triggers. Was told to replace bank 1 cat.. With Toyota part # 17410-07040
This item is $1200 and I know I can get it cheaper but what is a good alternative that will live up still the original oem specks.. It does need to pass california emmisions.. Also could a faulty bank 1 cat be the reason I am using so much more gas?

I have "heard" that the Walker CAT's work well when compared to OEM. I think you will have a power loss if it is clogged, which may make it use more gas.

I put an oem denso 02 upstream bank 1 sensor that I bought off ebay brand new in hoping that would do the trick but the code came back.

Around $26,000 worth of unleaded in the fuel tank.
Why do you say it won't pass?

That looks like the downstream cat. The upstram has a slight curve on it bending up to the engine.

I should specify, if your vehicle requires getting sniffed (exhaust gasses tested) it won't pass. All the sim does is send the proper wave form to the ECM to trick it into thinking the CAT is functioning properly.

Does this cat need to be welded in place? Or can I just use the bolts in place? Was it welded factory?

I think you can clamp it as long as you make sure there are no leaks.

From what i hear any aftermarket cat will work for maybe 1-2 years. my local exhaust shop refuses to install anything other than toyota cats in these trucks. If you get a walker/magnaflow whatever cat. It should pass smog no problem but it may set off the computer. buy the aftermarket cat and the sim for less than the yota cat. you wont be killing any extra seagulls.
