I am thinking the same thing. I hate to go to Town Fair, but they do have the roadforce balancing machine for a better balancing job.

Before I get any new tires mounted, I think I am going to powdercoat my wheels gunmetal. I dont know if I trust those guys to not F anything up on the wheels

Whoa... that's pretty cool! So far they're the cheapest I've found for tires alone. I'm not quite ready to dump money into tires yet but i'm at the point where if I'm going to sell off the Coopers, it's sell them now while they still have a lot of tread left or keep them til they're shot.

I figured out what I wanted online . Wrote down the price then called just to make sure the combo I picked would fit my truck etc etc . I told the guy I was going to do alittle shopping around (check others pricings) he said hold on let me talk to my manager :)
He came back with a $400 off price plus free tire replacement if the tire get a cut sidewall etc etc. I knew I wasn't going to find a better deal because I was shopping for 2 months . Plus the warranty on all 4 tires is like $400 so I made out very well with them . They shipped from Arizona and I had them in a week and half . Mounted , road force balanced.

Who did you have to do the mounting and balancing? Got a good local shop you'd recommend?

Can someone please tell me why my Mpg has gone down alot since installing the BFG Ats. I dont know why.

There the same size as my grabbers, same load e and the bfg are 3lbs less then my grabbers so I thought that it would help me but from what Im seeing there affecting my mpg even more. Im confused:confused:. My mpg was good with the grabbers and now I'm filling up even more:eek:
    Thanks guys

    ^are they the same width (i.e. 265 or 285)?

Also, tread design will also make a difference with mpg, it is more than just the weight of a tire that affects MPG

BFG A/T's have a deeper and more aggressive tread pattern than the Grabbers so they'll cause a slight loss. I'd have gone with something different, not a fan of BFG A/Ts. They're a great tire but have been unchanged for a VERY long time. Technology has passed them by in my opinion.

They shipped them mounted and road force balanced. Locally I've only dealt with town fair unfortunately . There's a Sullivan tire down the street from me but I haven't used them before.
    Heavy foot :notsure:
You should of bought a car if your that worried about gas mileage .
Fill your tank , reset trip, do speed limit and don't go over 2k on your rpms . Tell me what your mpgs are.

    Haha. Well they do lol.

I think there about the same. I put the two tires together and I didnt see a big difference at all. There was only one small thing I saw. I even think the grabbers have a little more deeper tread when new.

Well I'm not too worried but I can see a big enough difference between tires so I thought I would asked. I know its a truck and not going to see mpg like a car but idk, I dont have a heavy foot. I've been driving slow and not flooring it but I cant see a difference. Would having tires that are over aired be a problem. I think sears might have over filled them cause there super aired I think

Damn, I'd just be getting tires. I might have to buy them through Townfair and just have them price match.

My Ultragauge helped me change my driving habits to get better MPG. If you're really concerned with fuel economy, they're not a bad investment. That being said, I wouldn't go with an aggressive all terrain tire if MPG was a concern. Something like the Dynapros would be a better choice since they have a solid centerline and likely have less rolling resistance. BFG's could have a different rubber compound that's affecting MPG's.

Powder Pro in New Bedford powder coated my wheels. They are not cheap but do a really good job. There is another place in Clinton MA that does good work from what I've heard. I go to Firestone in Auburn MA for the tires/alignment work. A bit around the world but they both do good work.
BTW if your going wheeling with those wheels don't powdercoat them. You can't touch it up. Mine are scratched up and it pissed me off.

Right right right, I remember you whining about that in Henniker.

I guess I'll get a separate set of flashy wheels for my shitty street tires.
