I have been lurking in here since this thread started since I plan to check out this trail later in the summer when I'm down there. I figured this isn't a bad time to post up as I am curious now what the fire arm issue was in the NF. I have been making an honest effort to be educated on the gun laws for the areas I intend to visit as I will be traveling with firearms and this has me wondering if I have the most up to date info for the area. Cali is obviously much more strict with the regs than here in WA so I wanna be sure. Any info on this "ban"? Link maybe?

Thanks for all the recon pics BTW. Looks like an awesome weekend. Can't wait to check it out down there.

No worrys, pretty much want to just say its unnecessary to open carry on the trail with a group of people and spectators. Loaded or unloaded. Its all bad. Especially if you don't know the laws or want to interpret them in how you see fit.

I just think someone besides should have said something. There was no argument from JLee or me. Just want to put it out there. If that makes me a @sshole so be it. At least this will save someone from dropping off soap on a rope to their buddy at the local county jail.

Print it out, take it with you since there is a lot of misinformation.

Hopefully this calguns site has links to some official California state laws of some sorts. I love Internet forums as much as the next guy but I also know they have all have plenty of misinformation, and without looking at the link yet I can only imagine calguns.net is not immune to this phenomenon. I'll have a read thru it tomorrow. Thanks for the link.

If you were the guy that explained everything to him (I remember, I was there too), then you knew that Jerry didn't know of the rules, and when you told him, he thanked you for informing him and he put it away.

But then why after all that come back on the forum and ask

when you already knew that he wasn't aware of the rules until you told him. To me it just looks like you wanted to call him out (again) on the gun and add in a cheap shot with his jeans

Well this DOES kind of make sense here. If you knew it was him since you talked to him face to face, why did you have to bring up that fact here? Wasn't it done, and water under the bridge already? You said that there were no problems after you explained and he complied. What was your point in bringing it up again? Can you explain that please? Just curious.

What was said between you and JLee doesn't seem like you were being an asshole at all.

But like MJ and Babytruck are stating, you bringing it back up with cheap shots of insults DOES in fact make you seem like an asshole.

And if your main "Goal" was to educate people. You could have put a link in your first post as a reminder rather than calling some one out.

I was there, standing next to JLee when he had informed JLee. JLee did not in anyway argue or show any signs of ill feelings toward the guy. JLee was actually really chill, both me and JLee thanked him for the info and JLee happily complied. I don't see the need to come here and stir the pot. We all had a great time and I just can't see the reason behind the posts made. I am all for following the rules and safety but I saw nothing to make a stink about. If education was the intent, the context of your post says otherwise.

What I think we should be discussing is how a Tacoma sport made it up the last obstacle the hard way.

    It's all about the line.

But I think some parts of that climb were made easier by having a longer wheelbase.

Obviously, negotiating the turn was harder.

My lines sucked. But I've got a rematch appointment with that trail for next summer, when I'll come back with a little more trail armor.

Yeah. That puddle at the bottom made the shorter WB rigs struggle even more. Thats the way wheeling goes tho, you can be off by a inch and struggle or be on point and go thru without a issue. Good times.

Any of the sports there make it through anything without a winch or lockers? That's where I'm sitting right now.

Yes he made it, did have to winch at one point but so did many. To clarify he did not winch thru the hard way, only to get off a rock he high centered on towards to bottom, I think. It was not pretty tho but if there is a will, there is a way. Props to him for smokin that clutch and those tires. :D

Ahh, nice. I really want to go out with you guys one of these days but I'm still in the process of buying sliders, larger tires/16" wheels, UCA's and a new set of leafs. Maybe next year? Haha.

and without an e-brake! that probably helped me out though because I was forced to try the heal-toe maneuver where I have a foot on all 3 pedals. Never done it before, but it somehow got me through it
