I have one day left to return my brand new certified used 09 tacoma 4x4 2tr. timberland green and shiny.
It's nice and smooth on the hwy but now I'm having separation anxiety already on the thought of leaving my 1st gen.

Drive a new Tacoma for a few days and you will definitely make you miss your 1st gen.

It is so new and modern but unlike the 1st gen pickup.

or give give a good reason to keep it!

I'll have to keep both of them. I was set on using the money from my 1st gen to pay down on the loan. I'll have to screw that idea for now. I did not realize I was going to feel this way about the situation.
Wish they had a 1st gen 2nd gen mode Switch/button next to the others on the dash. That would be the best.
hold 3 seconds for 1st gen mode
insert mo cash for 2nd gen mode

have to rebuild head and or/engine on the 3.4. however it runs good at this time so I was going to sell it to some sucker while it was in this state.
It could still run forever, but mechanically forever does eventually end.

I was pissed for a minute at my 3.4 when I went out and bought a new 2nd gen.
now here I sit dreaming of the 1st gen as my off road vehicle and the 2nd gen as my daily driver.

2nd reason is it is green.

3rd it is not a double cab

    4th no ATRAC

Drive the new one for a few weeks then go back to driving the older truck, you won't want anything to do with the old truck.

Once the new one starts getting some mileage on it you will want to take it offroad too, it won't hurt it, its still a Toyota truck under the fancy body. Just think, the 1st gen Tacoma was fancy to compared to the 89-94's at one point too.

    1. I4 has no REAL power. ( I traded my AC I4 for a DCSB V6 for this reason) You're gonna be pissed at the I4 always having to downshift going up hills and lack of passing power.
    2. The difference in gas mileage between the 2.7 and 4.0 is negligible due to the huge difference in power.
    3. If you have a 4x4, and need 4x4, you might regret not getting the TRD OffRoad package with ATRAC (I do)
    4. You may need the room of a DC some time down the road. (Other reason for the trade)
    5. V6 is easier to maintain and has better aftermarket options. There isn't as many 5lug parts as there are 6 lug parts.
    6. It's green. Get silver or white.
7.The 6 speed in the V6 is much easier to live with than the 5 Speed in the I4
    8. Lack of real towing ability
    9. No tow package. It's worth it because of the tranny cooler, the bigger alt and battery.
    10. No fog lights in an I4

    plasti dipped wheel caps,
all sound like good reasons to me, to keep it.

you've been paying on it, why not just see what it's worth to keep it? maybe keep it for a little while, then see about refinancing. maybe that would give you some money then to fix the 3.4 engine. or just find another 4 banger and swap it?
