Blank spots under radio

The blank spots under the radio. has anyone taken those blank switches out. I would love to get a picture from the back of them I was wondering if I can put a small toggle switch drilled into one of those blanks. I am looking to mount covertly a switch for my horn. The switch is going to be an on/on. I want it hidden but if not hidden tucked away and not seen. any ideas of other locations>

 

i tossed mine when i installed toyota seat heater switches there, they're basically hollow. They have legs to snap into place but other than that they're very much useable to install toggles on them for sure.

 

How can I take them off. Is so I can see how much space I have to work with.

Can you take a picture of the area your talking about specifically please?? I am petty familiar with anything behind the dash or any panels in this vehicle but Im not sure what part your referring too.

 

I think you need to swap that piece of the dash for mine since it only has the 2 12v holes in it. That way there are no blanks left that need filling other than the ones to the left of the steering wheel. Let me know when you're ready and I'll pull mine and get it ready to ship.

 

you can take them off one of two ways. the first is if you don't care about making a hole in them. screw and nice size dry wall screw in it and pull once its through enough. that would be enough to pull them out. you can try simply prying them out with a flathead, bout it will be hard not to damage the surrounding area.

the second way is if you actually ned to get behind them to route cables or if you don't want to damage. you have to remove the center console (shifter area and storage). it only take 3-4 screw/steps.

snap out the front cup holder and the single cup holder pieces. theres two screws under matt in the center console storage and two more like it under the single cup holder piece you snapped out. theres two more drywall style black screws up by the rear of shifter gate. also unscrew the shifter knob. you'll need to put in neutral to give you room to move the center console back and out. now you'll have some access under the area where the blanks are so you can push them out and route cables and such.
