You'll need to let it dry out first. Otherwise you run the risk of heaving or settling. Then make sure the downspout is routed away from the patio.

 

The germination rate of bermuda seed is much lower than your cool season grass varieties. It's not that it's not possible, it just takes a lot longer and isn't as "idiot proof" as your cool season varieties. Typically you'll only get about a 50% germination rate of the bermuda seed. There's only a few varieties of bermuda that can be propogated from seed, common bermuda and princess are two of them. Most of the hybrid turf type varieties that are commonly used as sod (Tif 419 for example) are sterile so the only way to propogate them is by plugging and sprigging since the seed they produce are sterile.

I had asked the city about repairing the sidewalk in front of my house cause the roots of this tree had made it buckle, and a bunch of people have been tripping on it, and hurting themselves. The boulevard grass is mutilated. luckily the part near my house isn't too bad. unfortunately, I can't do too much about it until they are finished putting in the new sidewalk.

unfortunately, my backyard and side yard (not the one with the new fence and bushes) got mutilated a few weeks before too by this.


we had dirt put in for our very large raised garden, and instead of using the bobcat with tracks like they had said they would, they used this one with wheels

ugh. this is going to take forever to repair.

 

Damn that sucks.... A few months ago the local phone company decided to drive a back-hoe into my back yard to replace a fucking pedestal, of course they didn't tell me, or ask for permission or anything, just drove on back there.

 

so the new sidewalk is in, and they put dirt and grass seed around it. i have been watering 3 times a day for an hour each time. Been doing that for about 2 weeks. I have lots of baby grass coming up. It's about two inches tall. How long do I keep watering that often. I don't want to kill the new grass by watering too much and making it get root rot. i stopped the morning watering this morning cause the soil was still moist, but was thinking I should keep the noontime one and the late evening one because temps are going to be and have been in the mid 90's continuing into next week.

Any suggestions?

 

i like this. or go to the woods and find a snake and put it in your yard. it should find the mole and eat it.

 

Haha wow you don't really have to water for an hour at a time 3 times a day. You just need to keep the soil moist, not soaking wet. Usually after the first mowing, you can back off to watering about once every other day, then after 3 mowings you can bump it to about once or twice a week depending on rainfall and heat.

Unfortunately, this isn't the best time of year to seed and most of the seed probably won't make it. It does look like you'll have a little shade from that big tree so maybe it will make it. You definitely want to reseed in the fall towards the middle to end of September.

Btw, the best time to water is early in the morning right around sunrise. Watering at night leaves the water sitting on the grass all night and can promote disease and pests.

 

I had a similar situation. the gas company is always doing work in my neighborhood and the had to dig up a gas line in my front yard. Ill get a pic of it today.

we are on water restrictions right now and can only water once a week. My front yard is already getting scorched in a few parts

 

i've only been watering so much because it's been so hot and humid here for the last week. If I don't the soil gets dry. I haven't mowed it yet cause it's still so short. I will definitely be adding some seed in the fall, this is just the stuff that the street department put down. Figured I would at least try to get it to grow.

 

Any one know about sprinkler timers? Bought the house a few weeks ago sprinklers worked fine. 3 stations a few days ago sprinklers stoped going on i checked the wireing connections and when i turn the timer on it shows each zone going on one at a time and the timer counting down but the valves remain closed. Any help?

New house. Can't seem to get it right. Think the grass farm may have been infected. hopefully next year it will come around.

 

Did you check both ends of connectio, you should check if the valve end is getting power. The clock could bad. I don't know how many zones you have or what you set up looks like but usally when a valve goes bad the others should still work. Do you have a single valve box with multiple valves or multiple valve boxes through out your yard with single valves?

Mine is looking really good for August, but we have had a lot of rain the past month and the irrigation helps to. The other day we had we flash flood warnings because the rivers and creeks are higher then normal and we been getting some heavy rain.

 

Sounds like the control box is bad. I had to replace mine earlier this year for the same problem. My controller was probably 8 years old.


Not sure what you mean by the control box? The timer?
