Worth it to upgrade to TRD?

I have a non TRD 2008 Taco, is it worth it to put the TRD Bilsteins (front and back)? and TSB leafs. I do plan on towing is there much of a difference either way.

But if you look around on here you can often find the used TRD's for sale pretty cheap. I'd still go for the 5100's if you've got the $ though. Welcome.

i was pleased with the stock ones, though i have never taken them off road. i upgraded to 5100s/Eibachs cause i wanted to go up 3" not because i was un happy with the stock ride. As far as which i like better, i like my 5100s but heard that i will not really be able to see them shine until i get new upper UCA's. I think as long as OP is staying at stock height and not planning on doing 60 through the desert, he'd be ok with the Off-Road Setup. But if you plan to lift OP, Get 5100s!

How much of a role do Leaf springs play while towing? (I will be pulling a 14' enclosed with tandem axles and brakes.)

 

I would guess a big role as all the weight of the trailer tongue will be on the leafs. The stronger the leafs the less the truck will squat when towing. As far as what will be a good leaf for towing, I don't have any info.

 

Dakars are the shit for towing. Loaded down with boat trailer and 300 lbs or better in the bed the truck was still level.

 

How do the Bilstein 5100 compare to the TRD Sport shocks, as far as highway ride quality? I agree with the progressive OR coils riding rougher than the SR5 & Sport because I used to have an OR.

I have trd sport suspension sitting in my garage, shoot me an offer. It is off my 2006 DC TRD Sport

 

I've got a 2011 dc lb sport 4x4 and swapped out my fronts for 5100's but kept my stock coils. Huge difference in ride quality. Truck just has a more solid feel in the front end. Before i would hit a speed bump @ 15 and the truck would jostle around but now i can blast over the same ones @ 20 with a solid and very progressive feel. I've got the rear tsb done so it still hops around in the rear. I'm going to order the rear shocks and it will for sure cure that then. They're worth every penny!
