2 big muscle groups and 1 small? How can ur CNS recover from that? Legs alone are taxing on the CNS

Chest/triceps...just my .02 I'd try chest/biceps - ur overworking the triceps from the benching - which is a compound movement, no?

Oh I see. Would incline fly's be an isolation move?

What do you think about this routine?
    Sunday: chest/bi
    Monday: shoulder/calves
    Tuesday: cardio/abs
    Wednesday: back/tri
    Thursday: quads/abs
    Friday: total rest
    Saturday: interval/kickboxing

That seems really hard to keep track of... I would spread the ab workout throughout the week as well. My routine has been:

    m: Chest
    t: Back
    w: Shoulders
    r: Arms
    f: Legs

I never considered overwhelming my CNS... So hams and quads would be 2 major muscle groups?

I'll ask you as well; how does this look?

    Sunday: chest/bi
    Monday: shoulder/calves
    Tuesday: cardio/abs
    Wednesday: back/tri
    Thursday: quads/abs
    Friday: total rest
    Saturday: interval/kickboxing

I do a routine similar to kodiak's, except I do shoulders on my arm day instead of chest.

    Chest
    Back
    Rest
    Shoulders & Arms
    Rest
    Legs
    Rest

I do abs every day too. I swam all thoughout childhood and competitively in college so occaisionally Ill throw in a swim workout, but I don't typically do much cardio anymore because I'm tired of it and my bf% is still super low. I used to do the 5x5 program but recently got a little bored and I now do sets of 8-10 on everything. After I started doing 8-10 reps, I got significantly stronger.

And Alpha, I don't think you should worry about overloading your CNS. Your workout routine is basically a modified full body workout, which is what most athletes other than bodybuilders do. The only thing that really matters at the end of a workout is if you are tired and pushed yourself to limits anyways.

    Anyone else mountain bike?
    XC or DH

    M -Gym
    T -Ride XC
    W -Gym
    R -Ride XC
    F -Gym
Sat/Sun -Probably ride. Either DH or XC

On gym days I alternate between chest, back, shoulders, and legs. Whichever day it falls on.
Mountain biking is usually an avg of 18 miles per xc ride. Unless there's a lot of elevation gain, then I'm dying lol.

Not sure what experience you have my friend, but I see an overload on CNS as I stated. How is that workout not taxing on it?

    Overload:
    Squat warm up 3 reps
    3 reps max
    5x Sldl
    5x Sldl
    5xSlsl
    Shoulder press
    Shoulder press
    Upright row
    Upright RO
    5x curls
    Calf raises
    Calf raises
    4x leg raises

That's a lot more than required for targeting muscle. Basically overtraining a muscle group with non stop reps sets etc is taxing..especially on legs which require a tad more resting

    Non tax workout
    Biceps / triceps

    4x20/20/15/15 (all sets)
    Db curl
    Preacher curl
    Hammer curl

    Press downs
    Skull crushers
    Close grip bench press

    Leg

    Leg press
    Squat
    Ext
    Lying hammy curl
    Seated
    Sldl
    Calf raises

    Cool?

    Edit:

But other things such as caffeine, nicotine, ADHD meds etc stress out the CNS....
I think that food can help prevent the CNS from being burnt out as that's what's involved with muscle tissue repair, no?

To sum it up-constant over training (or too much of it) lack of food, caffeine, etc can stress the CNS. Why do more work than needed?

So I still don't see how my training regime and Alpha-Q's are CNS overloads. This 10x10 is 3-4 exercises, working 1-2 muscle groups a day, mine with one day rest between workouts except as below with 2 days back to back and those days being opposite and unrelated muscle groups. I have 4 days of workouts, 3 days of rest in a week.

    Wednesday: Back/Shoulders
    Thursday: Legs

I believe he's referring to me working out two "BIG" muscle groups in one day. Ex. Chest and hams with tri's = CNS overload. If I'm not mistaking.

Yes, thank you. Sorry for the confusion. I just don't see how working out two big groups like that, for that many reps/sets will do more good than harm. Prove me wrong by all means though.

Not trying to prove anything over here. Just trying to absorb knowledge.

So returning to my previous question; would hams and quads be too much in one day?

    How does this routine look?
