    130,000 miles on my 2000 SR5 4x4 3.4L. Bought it 5 years ago, I'm the 2nd owner.

Had to replace the clutch, leaf springs, tires, and had a few tune ups. Twice I had problems with my Thermal Position Sensor.

Literally, I've only replaced my back-up light switch on my manual transmission, twice - I think it's because of my boat which has a substantial brake system. Also, I've replaced one O2 sensor. I happen to think that coincided with me running two back-to-back treatments of Lucas Fuel System cleaner.

I've done all of my regular maintenance when it was required: timing belt, accessory belts, water pump, t-stat, radiator hoses, fuel filter, PCV valve, plugs, wires, air filter, Amsoil synthetics, brake fluid changes, brakes, pads, shoes, drums, rotors.

    Disassembled! Reassembled!,,, Disassembled!! etc..
Bought with blown head gasket. It ran so well, I thought I was getting a mosquito spraying truck. ( except for all the extra water in the oil!) I actually drove it on the trailer when we picked it up. It had about 1 1/2 to 2 quarts of water in the oil when I picked it up. I changed gaskets, resurfaced the heads and had the valve seats ground. Had 209,000 on it and I've put about 200 miles on it since the repair. This truck was NOT properly maintained, but it seems to be doing really good so far. I'm into it right now for about $1000 for the repairs. Other than the heads and gasket kit. the only things I've replaced is the Idle Air Control valve, a battery clamp ( to replace the vise grips that was being used ) and an $8 spectra coupler to repair the damaged air intake tube. I think that these 5VZ motors are pretty SOLID!
My suggestion would be have a compression test performed and the rest is pretty much small stuff. These guys know where to get the best prices on parts. Even though these are not cheap engines to work on, most of the expensive stuff holds up well. And I believe the 1st gens have a more nostalgic look too.

I need to get some experienced advice on an overheating issue that I can't seem to resolve. Would someone be so kind as to direct me to the correct place to ask for technical guidance?
